Vertafore Employee Perspectives

Describe your experience as a woman in engineering. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced, and how have you overcome them?

As a woman navigating the technology industry, a male-dominated space, for 15 years, I’ve learned to better understand the male mind and thought process. There are a wide array of intellectual and social aptitudes and egos within this industry. I’ve found it empowering to engage and connect with everyone (despite aversions) to strive for cohesion and more fluid information flow. Overcoming barriers with people, combined with a systematic and detailed project approach, leads to a thriving team and successful outcome!

What are your professional goals, and how has your current company enabled you to pursue them?

I continue to cultivate critical thinking, decision-making and leadership skills daily. It’s great knowing Vertafore offers annual certification reimbursement, internal advancement and team transfer opportunities to help their staff’s growth.

What advice do you have for women in engineering or other technical roles regarding how to identify a company and team that will support their growth and development?

For women entering the technical workforce, I’d suggest looking for companies that have an outstanding reputation. The staff quality and mentorship you’ll receive from top tier peers is pivotal to how quickly you’ll grow. I’d also look for a job description that best fits your career path. If you pursue a more exact fit, you’ll be happier in the role and in-turn excel faster within that position.

Vertafore's approach to AI emphasizes augmenting, not replacing, human judgment, giving underwriters and other experts better information rather than automating their decisions.

"The goal is to amplify each individual's impact, not by replacing their judgment, but by removing friction and accelerating the tasks that support strong decision-making."
