The Director of Manufacturing Systems & Operations will lead strategic planning and operational oversight to enhance manufacturing efficiency, safety, and security. This role includes managing OT environments, leading teams in new facility start-ups, and improving systems integration with ERP, while driving risk management and compliance efforts.

Manage the Optics hardware services portfolio end-to-end: set up service offerings at NPI, define SoWs, pricing/costing, support pre-sales tendering, oversee delivery and lifecycle, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure operational and commercial success.

Maintain and improve uptime of wafer-fabrication equipment (wet etch, plasma etchers, metal deposition). Install, qualify, repair, and sustain tools; write procedures, troubleshoot root causes, train staff, manage preventive maintenance, and support audits and inventory.

Support NPI and sustaining engineering for routing hardware by managing product data, change control (ECO/MCO/Stop Orders), and BOM health. Develop custom queries, adapt SQL/Sequel for evolving product structures, implement data models, and create PLM workflows while coordinating across hardware, software, and product line management.

Simulate and analyze ultra-high-speed PCB channels (112G+ SerDes), provide SI guidance to digital hardware designers, perform TDR/VNA and oscilloscope measurements, document results, and implement signal integrity best practices across cross-functional teams.

Lead standards strategy and advocacy for optical transport products, working with PLMs, R&D, and standards bodies (ITU-T, OIF, IEEE 802.3, OpenROADM). Develop and promote contributions, influence industry direction, report internally, and collaborate across business development, product management, marketing, and engineering to align product strategy with evolving optical, Ethernet, and transport standards.

Lead reliability engineering for Silicon Photonics hardware: define and validate reliability models, perform MTBF/MTBCF predictions, analyze field data, direct verification testing and root-cause analysis, drive corrective actions, and mentor cross-functional teams to improve product reliability.

Designs and develops silicon photonics integrated circuits, managing the entire development process, including testing and analysis for cutting-edge photonic devices and systems-on-chip.

Lead standardization strategy for optical transport and Ethernet technologies, develop and advocate contributions to standards bodies (ITU‑T, IEEE, OIF, OpenROADM), coordinate with PLMs and R&D, report progress internally, provide technical influence and guidance, and represent Nokia at standards meetings and industry events.

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable platform services. Collaborate with cross-functional and architecture teams to implement cloud-native solutions, optimize performance and scalability, participate in code reviews, and document technical specifications while supporting platform reliability and CI/CD practices.

Design and lead development of a massively distributed, highly available edge compute platform. Implement scalable microservices, leverage Kubernetes internals for resource management, integrate cloud platforms, troubleshoot high-throughput networking, conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and ensure software meets performance, security, and scalability standards.

Lead design and implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant platform architecture using Kubernetes and DevOps/GitOps. Architect multi-tenant shared services (databases, MQTT, Keycloak, cert-manager, blob storage), ensure availability, cost efficiency, and scaling, troubleshoot production distributed systems, mentor engineers, collaborate cross-functionally, document decisions, and enforce coding standards via reviews.

Lead ownership of the observability stack: define instrumentation standards, embed observability practices across projects, implement tooling (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Tempo, Victoria Metrics), build pipelines (OLAP, Kafka, ETL, Spark/Flink), collaborate on dashboards with UI/UX, advise on distributed AI infrastructure, mentor teams, and drive adoption and optimization of observability at scale.

Lead and grow a QA team, design and execute test strategy including E2E automation and scale testing, build test automation, run chaos engineering scenarios, use device simulators and traffic generators, ensure system resilience and regression stability, and collaborate with development to integrate automated testing.

Lead design and operation of a massively distributed edge compute platform using hyperscaler services and Kubernetes. Design external APIs, optimize L7 traffic routing, ensure high availability, fault tolerance, security and data privacy. Collaborate across AI/ML, hardware, network, and security teams, present scalability and reliability metrics to executives, mentor engineers, and establish architectural governance.

Design and implement test automation frameworks; execute and scale end-to-end automated tests; integrate automation into the SDLC; apply chaos engineering for resilience; manage cloud and remote hardware test environments; analyze and report results; collaborate with developers; and mentor junior engineers.

Senior individual contributor leading development, optimization, and transfer of InP PIC and laser fabrication processes for high-volume manufacturing. Responsibilities include epitaxial design, process flow development, process integration, SPC and statistical analysis, FMEA and root-cause work, metrology strategy, fab execution with remote partners, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring.

Drive reliability qualification and production monitoring for optical communication products. Track and analyze reliability stress tests, investigate failures with cross-functional teams, implement corrective actions, maintain dashboards and reports, support NPI, and apply statistical and AI tools to generate reliability insights and improve product quality.

Develop and execute test plans for SiGe ASICs and high-speed mixed-signal devices. Perform RF/mm-wave probing and characterization, troubleshoot electrical/RF/thermal/software issues, compare measurements with simulations, build bench hardware/software for characterization, qualify test stations (Gage R&R, SPC), document test solutions, and coordinate cross-functional test development schedules.

Debug and resolve complex hardware/software issues for manufacturing test stations. Lead commissioning and release-to-manufacturing of opto-electrical test stations, improve test uptime, provide documentation and support to contract manufacturers and vendors, coordinate equipment RFQs/RMAs, and use AI tools for data analysis.
