AI Scientist Intern supporting Human-Centered AI research and development. The role involves building prototypes with scientists and software engineers using machine learning, probabilistic modeling, natural language processing, cybersecurity, data analytics, knowledge representation, and optimization. Candidates must be U.S. citizens pursuing a graduate degree in computer science or a related field, demonstrate Python proficiency and complex software development experience, and have defense customer or contractor experience.

Leads human-computer interaction research focused on human-AI teaming, autonomy, decision support, and complex work environments. Develops research agendas, studies customer needs, creates and evaluates interactive prototypes, and oversees multidisciplinary teams of researchers, designers, and engineers. The role also directs technical work, supports proposals and business development, manages customer relationships, contributes to publications, and presents findings. Requires advanced education in human factors or related fields, research leadership experience, U.S. citizenship, and onsite work in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Design, implement, debug, and refine advanced neuro-symbolic AI and machine learning systems. Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and subject-matter experts to develop deployable solutions for national security and commercial applications. Responsibilities include leading R&D programs, managing technical collaborations, writing reports and papers, engaging customers, and advancing deep learning, probabilistic reasoning, symbolic knowledge, optimization, and related technologies from research through deployment.
