Drift moves into Copley Place

Drift, a fast-growing startup that makes enterprise sales software with chatbot-style messaging, moved its headquarters from Cambridge to Copley Square this week. The company, which currently has 35 employees, will be subleasing the space from Wayfair and plans to double its headcount by the end of the year. [Boston Business Journal]

 

CarGurus hires banks for IPO

Cambridge-based car-shopping site CarGurus has tapped investment banks for an initial public offering later this year. The company reportedly hopes to go public in the fourth quarter of the year at a valuation of more than $1 billion. Online news provider Axios, which first reported on the IPO plans, said the company hired Goldman Sachs and Allen & Co to lead the offering. [Reuters]

 

Pillar VC brings on Russ Wilcox as 3rd partner

Venture capital firm Pillar VC announced that Russ Wilcox, the former founder and CEO of E Ink Corp., will become Pillar's third partner this week. Jamie Goldstein founded Pillar VC about a year ago hoping to create a more founder-friendly fund, which has attracted notable investors like Jason Robins of DraftKings and Niraj Shah. Wilcox founded E Ink in 1997 using technology developed at the MIT Media Lab. He later served as the company's CEO. [Boston Business Journal]

 

Onshape nominated for NEVYs next pillar tech company

Onshape, the Cambridge-based cloud CAD software startup with a valuation nearing $1 billion, has been nominated for the fifth annual NEVY Awards — an honor awarded to companies that could have a significant impact on the local innovation economy. The New England Venture Capital Association announced the nominees this week. Other nominees include Rethink Robotics, Turbonomic and Carbon Black. [BostInno]

 

Zerto makes 2 key hires

Zerto, a provider of cloud IT resilience solutions, announced the appointment of two key roles at its Boston headquarters this week. Coley Burke is Zerto’s new vice president of sales, Americas, while Steve Lobisser has joined the company as global director, technical support. Both joined Zerto from Dell EMC, bringing deep enterprise technology and business development experience to aid the company’s aggressive growth strategy. [Zerto]
