Summary: Air Space Intelligence engineers build software for high-speed decision-making in defense and aviation. The team works in tight feedback loops with customers like the U.S. Air Force to ship features fast, embracing a culture where growth is rapid, impact is immediate, and “speed” defines the mission.

When you are moving anywhere between 500 and 2,000 miles per hour — the speed that airplanes travel — real-time information doesn’t do you much good.

Or at least that’s what the engineers at Air Space Intelligence say. The aerospace and defense company’s tagline is “when predicability matters, real-time is already in the past.”

So when Built In asked Bryan Quinn, a software engineer at Air Space Intelligence, what word best describes the company culture, it’s not surprising that he said “speed.”

“What makes this place special is that growth isn’t something you wait for — it happens because the environment demands it, supports it and celebrates it,” Quinn said. “You learn fast, build fast and make an impact right away.”

Built In spoke with Quinn about what it’s like to work on the exciting product team at Air Space Intelligence.

Software Engineer • Air Space Intelligence

Air Space Intelligence is a dual-use, industry proven software company that powers critical decision-making in the most demanding domains, from air traffic management to military logistics.  With customers from United to the U.S. Air Force, ASI has established itself as a leader in deploying new software technologies across critical industries, and plans to launch in new domains including maritime and energy.

Describe your company culture in one word. What made you pick that word?

Speed.

The word “speed” defines how we work at ASI: dynamic, focused and deeply mission-driven. We’re constantly moving forward, and rapidly delivering results in industries like aerospace and defense where progress has historically been slow and incremental. We move fast, not just because we can, but because we believe it’s necessary. It allows us to bring new life to defense and commercial aviation, where long procurement cycles and rigid contracting processes have stifled innovation and prevented the software solutions from reaching the field. We believe that, with the latest advances in artificial intelligence and cloud computing, innovation should be the default, not the exception.

One example that stands out: we regularly work side-by-side with our customers in a tight feedback loop that enables us to ship impactful features in days, not months or years. Our platform allows us to integrate their most valuable data sources and build automation that unlocks real value. Everyone on the team is empowered to take initiative, move decisively and bring big ideas to life quickly. We are aligned around a shared mission and empowered to move fast.

How long have you been with the company, and what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I’ve been at ASI for almost a year, and it’s been the most professionally transformative chapter of my career. I came from a research-oriented environment where execution often took a backseat to lengthy proposals and bureaucracy. While intellectually rewarding, I was craving the chance to bring real, scalable solutions to the field — and that’s exactly what I found here.

Since joining, I’ve grown tremendously. Not just in technical depth, but in my ability to deliver quality software solutions, directly to operational users. It’s incredibly motivating to know that what we build actually matters — not someday, but right now.

What makes this place special is that growth isn’t something you wait for — it happens because the environment demands it, supports it and celebrates it. You learn fast, build fast and make an impact right away. At ASI, engineers don’t just write code — they own problems end-to-end, ship directly to users and see their work make an operational impact in real time. If you’re the kind of person who wants to move quickly and solve problems that actually matter, there’s no better place to be.
