Summary: Imprivata supports career growth and continuous learning through mentorship, skills workshops and a Leadership Development Program, illustrated by an employee’s rise from intern to Salesforce solution architect over 10 years and a leader with nine years’ tenure now overseeing recurring revenue.

Over the course of his career at Imprivata, Chris Rustici has come to understand that the more you learn, the more you realize there's always room to grow.

When he joined the company nine years ago, he had a lot to learn — about finances, operations, leadership and more. Rustici transitioned between several roles in IT and sales operations before landing his current job as vice president of renewals and success operations, through which he is responsible for managing all of the company’s recurring revenue.

As someone who “thrives on learning and pushing boundaries,” he’s energized by the number of opportunities he has had to evolve during his time at the company. Rustici’s involvement in formal programs, such as skills workshops and conferences, coupled with support he has received from mentors, has made his experience at the organization unlike any other.

“Imprivata challenges me — in all the best ways,” he said.

Everyone who joins the company has ample chances to stretch their skills, regardless of where they are in their career. Jenny Frazier embodies this opportunity, having discovered a passion for Salesforce and business systems after joining the company as an intern 10 years ago.

Following her internship, she held several different positions related to Salesforce administration and business analysis at the company before ultimately stepping into her current role as senior manager and Salesforce solution architect. Over the years, the company has supported Frazier at every stage of her professional journey, connecting her opportunities and people who have been instrumental in her continued success.

“As the company has grown and evolved, I’ve been able to grow alongside it, continually taking on new challenges and expanding my impact,” she said. “I’ve truly grown up here.”

Rustici and Frazier’s growth journeys at Imprivata reflect the heart of the company’s growth-focused culture, one that encourages employees to realize their ambitions — and bring them to fruition.

About Imprivata

Imprivata’s secure access management solutions are designed to help organizations in healthcare and other mission-critical industries enable, control and monitor digital identities.

One Employee’s Career Growth Journey

Imprivata hasn’t simply transformed Rustici’s career — it has become a “core part” of his identity.

“I’m proud to say I’ve contributed to shaping the collaborative, high-performing culture we have today,” he said.

Rustici considers the atmosphere on his team to be “unmatched,” fostered by a focus not only on results but on seeing each other succeed, both personally and professionally. He said that everyone is always willing to take time to help their colleagues grow, upholding the values upon which the company rests.

“This mutual growth reflects the best of our values,” Rustici shared. “When we ‘Win Together,’ it’s not just about business outcomes; it’s about becoming better people and better leaders.”

Over the years, he has been mentored by several executive and senior leaders. Whether formal or informal, these relationships have been critical to Rustici’s continued growth and reflect a contagious culture of mentorship that encompasses the wider organization.

“There’s a pay-it-forward mindset that encourages leaders at all levels to guide and uplift others, even across departments,” he said.

This support has empowered Rustici to help lead various major initiatives, including the integration of SecureLink after its acquisition in 2022. He recalled the effort that went into embedding the company’s practices into Imprivata’s framework, which ultimately drove a standardized, scalable renewal process.

Rustici and others at Imprivata are constantly driven by the aim to improve; so much so, he said, that it’s baked into the company’s DNA. The company’s core value, “Raise the Bar,” is reflected in how teammates challenge themselves and each other to level up, which manifested recently during a team-wide professional development workshop, where they focused on understanding selling profiles and individual personalities based on the Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness model.

“It sparked great conversation and helped us better engage with customers by playing to our strengths and growing from our gaps,” Rustici said. “That type of initiative turns small insights into big wins.”

The ops leader said he’s always thinking a few levels up, ascertaining what matters most to the business, and how his team can operate with clarity and purpose. And as Rustici continues to grow, he’s eager to see his team thrive alongside him.

“My next challenge is helping our team rise to that same strategic altitude, ensuring we’re aligned, focused and pushing toward our highest potential,” he said. “That’s how we’ll continue to ‘Own the Outcome’ while lifting each other up in the process.”

Imprivata’s Culture of Continuous Learning in Action

There’s a reason why Frazier considers her decision to join Imprivata to be “one of the most defining parts” of her professional journey.

“I’ve been given the space, support and challenges needed to evolve into the leader I am today,” she said.

Since joining the company as an intern, Frazier has undergone a professional transformation. In owning large-scale cross-functional projects and managing an entire team of developers, administrators and analysts, she has strengthened her skills in systems architecture, integrations, project management and stakeholder communication.

According to Frazier, all of these skills have helped her tackle a wide range of stretch opportunities, such as taking full ownership of the company’s Salesforce ecosystem and its integrations across the business.

“Through it all, I’ve learned to be adaptable, collaborative and always open to learning something new,” she said.

While Frazier’s day-to-day work has unlocked ample opportunities to grow, leaders have played a pivotal role in her success, showing that they genuinely care about her growth while taking the time to guide, challenge and support her.

“That kind of encouragement has helped me step into roles and projects that stretched me professionally,” she said.

Continuous learning is a key element of Imprivata’s culture, cultivated by opportunities to engage in training, obtain certifications and take the time to test out ideas. Frazier noted that the company’s Leadership Development Program also fosters this, providing employees such as herself with the tools, exposure and support needed to become strong, strategic leaders.

“[Imprivata] wants you to keep building your toolkit, taking on new challenges and setting yourself up for success,” she said. “That kind of investment in people really stands out and makes a big difference.”
