WhiteSource is a great company to be a part of, period! There are many reasons I love working here, chief among them is the continued reward of working with technology that’s exciting and seriously matters in the world of software today.

Beyond the technology, I experience a lot of joy in this journey because of the high caliber of my WhiteSource colleagues. Interacting with my coworkers reminds me every day why coming to WhiteSource was the best career decision I have made. We get things done, and we do it together. Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed?

I am most excited about the undeniable growth potential that lies ahead for WhiteSource. What we do makes a lot of sense and fulfills a real need in the industry. Specifically for my role, I find it incredibly motivating working with larger customers and being an integral part of the design and execution of processes aimed at helping them in every possible way. I also have the opportunity to lead success for our customers by delivering exceptional service that is memorable and personal. I can’t wait to be part of this transformation and seeing it succeed as we move forward!

Nabil Enayet
Software Engineer • Anduril

What they do: Anduril builds hardware and software products that solve complex national security challenges.

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company?

The people! At first glance, you might think the biggest factor for joining an up-and-coming, high-tech startup like Anduril might be the free food, the opportunity to play with robots or the uniquely compelling mission. But for me, what really sealed the deal was the people I met through the interview process. Everyone I met, from engineers on the ground floor all the way up to Brian, our CEO, was authentic, intelligent and plugged into the company’s mission. It was truly refreshing to meet a group of talented engineers who were so impassioned to perform meaningful engineering work — by the end of my interviews, there was no doubt in my mind that Anduril would be an amazing place to commit my time.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you’ll do to help your company get there?

Working at Anduril presents the challenge of solving unique problems at an international scale. For example, to many, drones represent a promising new horizon in automation technology enabling improved efficiencies in industries such as construction and farming or assisting in search and rescue missions. However, the rising efficiency and rapidly falling cost of this technology also makes it a perfect tool for more nefarious missions such as smuggling drugs, autonomously spying on valuable resources or even remotely attacking military bases.

At Anduril, I get to work with some of the leading experts in machine learning to bring cutting edge technology to the front lines. Due to the unique nature of the environments Anduril must operate in, I’ve had to think outside the box and turn traditional machine workflows upside down in order to bring flexible systems to the edge, where our hardware has to face novel challenges at each deployment.

ALTERYX
Gaurav Sheni
Senior Software Engineer • Alteryx

What they do: Alteryx uses analytic process automation software to unify analytics, data science and business process automation into one platform to help accelerate digital transformation.

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company?

As I considered my desired career path, one of the deciding factors was the chance to work on open-source software. Alteryx’s Innovation Labs has three open-source libraries on GitHub — I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to all of them! What I find especially meaningful about working on open-source software is being able to see the immediate impact of my work on the world. It’s energizing and validating to discover other people using libraries that I've worked on in their blog posts, on YouTube or even in real-world situations.

I’m excited to come to work every day knowing that I work at a company that highly values open-source contributions and continues to invest in creating more open-source data science tools. I am constantly impressed by the ways in which Alteryx furthers our commitment to increasing data literacy for all, not only with our open-source offerings but also with our dedication to offering our software to students and educators free of charge through the Alteryx for Good program.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed?

We are introducing a brand new machine learning product, and I am excited to be able to tackle the technical challenges that come with this process. In particular, I enjoy seeing how customers use their datasets in our platform to solve novel problems. Because of our fast-paced culture and our agile internal processes, I know we will quickly leverage feedback and improve on our product. I look forward to rapidly iterating on this product while ensuring a high level of code quality.

It’s thrilling to work as part of a larger team in which different parts of Alteryx are all working together to contribute to the success of this exciting project. I find it especially rewarding to bring my expertise from the open-source libraries to work on the core of this product. I am able to combine two of my passions by continuing to improve the open-source libraries while integrating their core functionality into a larger product.

Kay Sickafoose
Solution Engineer • Devo

What they do: Devo is a cloud-native logging solution that delivers real-time visibility for security and operations teams.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

I’ve worked with quite a few startups in my former life, and the momentum I’ve felt this year at Devo — especially during this crazy time for many — has been incredibly inspiring. Specifically, the growth we’ve achieved with bringing a bunch of new logos on board and the expansion of some of our existing customers.

With the growth we’ve achieved this last year, we are able to bring on more development resources that will really help push our product to the next level.”

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed?

I work with one of our biggest customers and they’ve asked for quite a few product features and enhancements that we’ve tried our best to keep up with. What I’m most excited about is seeing these come to life as our product continues to evolve. With the growth we’ve achieved this last year, we are able to bring on more development resources that will really help push our product to the next level — delivering on what our customers and prospects need and want. From improvements to the existing user interface and user experience to enhancements to our core cybersecurity capabilities and providing more self-service in the platform, 2021 is going to be a big year for us on the product team!

Ben Goffin
Director of Sales, Americas • FareHarbor

What they do: FareHarbor is a tour and activity reservation platform.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

To be with a company for five years these days likely means that a lot has gone right. Not only does the company have to find success, but it also has to promote a culture that builds and motivates employees. I feel fortunate for my time at FareHarbor and, in particular, the autonomy I’ve enjoyed in all my roles from entry-level account executive to director of sales. While our team provides support, you are afforded the freedom within your role to meet goals in the way you best see fit. We preach that there is not a singular way to be successful as a salesperson.

I have friends at other SaaS companies who can barely send an email without oversight from their manager. At FareHarbor, I’ve always been able to set my day to day the way I best see fit, pitch in my own unique style and pursue the leads I deem most worthy. This autonomy has not only allowed me to be successful but also makes coming into work (in-person and virtually) something I’m excited to do. In my opinion, there is not much more you can ask for than that feeling.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed?

I’m incredibly excited about FareHarbor’s continued expansion into new markets. Recently, we added over 20 new countries we are operating in. Moving into new markets is always an exciting time at FareHarbor, as it presents fresh opportunities and challenges. Our office thrives on collaboration and working together to break into a new country brings out the best in everyone.

Specifically, I will be working with our sales team to discern what is working and where we can improve in these new verticals. This encompasses refining our pitch, evaluating how our product stacks up in a new market and identifying our best opportunities. At the end of the day, my job is to put our salespeople in the best situations to succeed, and market expansion presents an exciting challenge.
