Advent Technologies opened a new facility. The 21,000-square-foot facility, which is located in the mixed-use Hood Park development in Charlestown, will be used for research and development, as well as manufacturing production of the company’s fuel cell systems, including its ion-pair membrane electrode assembly. Advent’s R&D team, which was previously based out of Greentown Labs in Somerville, will relocate to the new facility along with Advent’s corporate employees, which worked at the company’s downtown office. Boston Tech Quote of the Week

“We experienced rapid growth this past year despite the macroeconomic climate, and we are only just scratching the surface. This coming year we expect continued growth, as we focus on making AgeAssured available to more policyholders and expanding the carrier and partner network for NeverStop.” — Roee Nahir, co-founder of Assured Allies

Assured Allies raised $42.5M. Boston-based insurtech company Assured Allies partners with long-term care insurers to help older adults age in place. The company’s artificial intelligence-powered platform can help older adults anticipate health challenges, take proactive steps to improve their health and access resources to continue to live in their homes. This Series B funding round will help the company partner with more long-term care insurers. [Built In Boston]

SOS was featured in the Built In Future 5 series. Our quarterly series about up-and-coming tech companies came to a close last week with a feature article about SOS. The Boston-based company has developed digital vending machines that dispense free period care products and other health and wellness products that can be purchased electronically. SOS operates more than 100 vending machines, and the co-founders said they expect to reach 300 vending machines by the end of this year. [Built In Boston]
