This is airSlate’s third acquisition in the secure document sharing and signing space.

Boston-based airSlate is eyeing major expansion in the document management sector after its latest acquisition.

On Thursday, airSlate announced it acquired of DocHub, an online PDF editor and document signing platform. This marks airSlate’s third acquisition in the space alongside two big-name platforms: pdfFiller and signNow.

This latest acquisition comes just one month after airSlate became a tech unicorn with a valuation of $1.25 billion. The plan then was to use its recently raised $51.5 million financing round to hire 400 new employees.

Borya Shakhnovich, airSlate CEO and co-founder, told Built In via email that the acquisition of DocHub has closed and the company will not be disclosing financial terms of the deal. Additionally, DocHub’s entire staff has been integrated into airSlate.

Outside of the acquisition, the DocHub team is expected to double by the end of the year. 

“AirSlate is acquiring the PDF annotator and document signing platform DocHub because of their passion and innovative contributions to PDF, e-signature and workflow solutions,” Shakhnovich said. “This deal is complimentary in nature, where DocHub brings its very successful coverage of use cases within the Google Workspace Marketplace in particular. This and other acquisitions allow airSlate to continue to supply its rapidly growing customer base with everything they need to get documents completed.”

According to a company statement, DocHub’s platform is used by 80 million global users. Its technology helps develop PDF editing and e-signature platforms for schools and businesses.

“AirSlate’s extensive go-to-market expertise and proven product adoption success show us they are the ideal partner to help us accelerate the growth of our customer base and product roadmap,” DocHub CEO and founder Chris Devor said in a statement. “We’re excited to join the airSlate family to discover many interesting use cases and new technologies that will complement our existing product portfolios and satisfy our customers for the long-term.”
