The ease of signing documents virtually has been powered by household names like pdfFiller and signNow for over a decade. The two mainstream platforms are a part of  Boston-based airSlate’s portfolio, a newly minted tech unicorn.

AirSlate raised a $51.5 million financing round on Thursday. The round was co-led by G Squared and UiPath and brings the company’s valuation to $1.25 billion.

“We are delighted to join forces with G Squared and tap into their depth of experience working with companies that take on big challenges,” Borya Shakhnovich, CEO and co-founder of airSlate, said in a statement. “Our focus on empowering anyone to automate their business processes, combined with airSlate’s ability to scale efficiently, makes G Squared a great partner to help us expand our automation offerings beyond document workflows.”

As a parent company, airSlate operates as a SaaS, no-code business process automation and document management solutions platform for over 100 million users. Its technology allows users to edit PDFs, sign documents and access no-code workflow automation.

Built In last caught up with airSlate when it raised a $40 million financing round in 2021. Back then, airSlate was serving more than 20 million users globally, including big-name companies like the New England Patriots, Xerox and GoFundMe.

With its fresh funding, the company plans to expand its product offerings and hire 400 employees to add it to its current 1,000-person team. A company representative told Built In via email that airSlate will be hiring for positions across multiple locations including Ukraine, Poland, the U.S. and other countries.
