New York-based connectivity provider Lightpath first entered the Boston market in June 2021 after acquiring three local telecommunications companies.

In a news release, Lightpath CEO Chris Morley said the acquisitions allowed them to “hit the ground running” in Boston, Boston seaport, Cambridge and other nearby neighborhoods.

By November, Lightpath had expanded its reach, providing fiber internet, ethernet and managed Wi-Fi services to the greater Boston area, including Waltham, Bedford, Burlington and Lowell.

Now that Lightpath is acquainted with the Boston area, the company has decided to establish roots by opening an office at 100 Quannapowitt Parkway in Wakefield.

“After 30 years serving the New York metro markets, Lightpath’s entrance into Massachusetts in 2021 marks its first expansion beyond its ‘home’ territory,” Morley told Built In via email. “Opening an office in greater Boston really helps Lightpath plant its flag in the area and will help solidify operations and customer service.”

Lightpath added 30 Boston-based employees to its team last year and plans to keep recruiting efforts up this year. Nearly 30 roles are open on the company site.

Morley told Built In that one of the biggest benefits for employees at Lightpath is that the company “offers a high-growth, dynamic environment that is solidified in a financially strong, 30-year-old company. Employees get the best of both worlds – an exciting growth environment combined with stability.”
