Boston tech is home to a swath of fascinating companies. The best part? Many of them are hiring. 

Whether it’s an edtech company that provides educators with real-time data on their students and how they’re doing, or a free service that helps people discover the books they’ll love, there are so many opportunities to find your next landing spot. 

Built In Boston curated a list of four companies that are hiring for our featured companies of the month.

What they do: Lose It! is a weight loss app that’s resulted in more than 40 million people losing 100 million pounds.

COVID-19 support: Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Lose It! has offered its users free content on how to manage stress eating, what healthy pantry options to buy and how to do at-home workouts.

They’re hiring: Lose It! is looking to hire for a bunch of roles in engineering, including software engineers for Android, iOS and infrastructure.

What they do: Cambridge Semantics is a big data management and exploratory analytics software company that allows their customers to connect complex data from across their business to gain insights.

Tech stack: At Cambridge Semantics, they use Hadoop for frameworks, React for libraries, and C++, Java, JavaScript and Python for languages.

Big-time client: In the fall of 2020, Cambridge Semantics announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had selected the company as the analytics and integration layer for the FDA’s Intelligent Data Lake.

Bookbub

What they do: BookBub is a free service that helps people discover the books they’ll love, and allows publishers and authors to drive sales and find new fans. 

Tech stack: BookBub uses PostgreSQL and Redis for databases, JavaScript and Ruby for languages, and React for libraries.

Mentorship opportunities: One of BookBub’s values are learning and growth, which is why the company has opportunities for mentoring, lunch and learns, outside classes, conferences and chances to collaborate across departments.

 

Panorama Education
Panorama education

What they do: Panorama Education is an edtech company that provides educators with real-time data on their students and how they’re doing in academics, attendance, behavior and college readiness.

They’re hiring: Panorama Education is looking to fill a handful of jobs across engineering, design, client success, marketing and more. Open positions include a senior product designer, a senior software engineer and a client success manager for the company’s 90-100 client portfolio of schools.

Education roots: CEO and Co-Founder Aaron Feuer recalled how formative his early education was for the building block of Panorama in a recent interview with EducationWeek. “Education was a big part of my childhood,” Feuer said. “I grew up in a family of teachers and principals. As a high school student in Los Angeles, I got involved as a student organizer to fight for better schools.”
