While a catered lunch yields immediate and tasty benefits, one of the more lasting impacts is the time it saves employees from having to prepare or buy lunch; time that quickly adds up.  Similarly, a monthly rideshare credit on the company’s dime obviously saves employees money, but it also promotes a healthy work-life balance that encourages folks to go explore the city. It’s these subtle yet meaningful effects of perks that have these three employees praising their employers.

One of the most impactful perks supported by critical event management platform Everbridge is its investment in their people. Vice President of Enterprise Sales for North American Brandon McAllister touched on how their professional development enables career transformation.

Of all the perks Everbridge offers, which ones matter most to you?

One of my favorite benefits or perks offered here is the focus on professional development. We want our employees to feel excited and passionate about our important mission, industry leading platform and ever-growing customer base. We believe investing in and developing our employees accomplishes this while creating a culture and environment of career transformation. As a hyper-growth tech company, this focus on professional development also opens the doors to our executives as mentors, upward mobility and overall higher levels of employee satisfaction and engagement.

When you focus on professional development, you help people find the best version of themselves and create upward mobility.

How have you taken advantage of this perk? What impact has it had on your life inside or outside the office?

Professional development and a focus on career transformation were important factors for me joining Everbridge. My personal leadership mission is to positively impact people at scale, something embraced here at Everbridge. I’ve taken advantage of having mentors from our executive team, collaborating cross functionally and taking on projects outside of my sphere to grow my skills. This is something we deploy across the entire organization.

Recently, my role expanded here as Everbridge’s new VP of enterprise sales through North America. This required a relocation to Boston. With the kind of support I have received with this relocation from Everbridge, it has made things easier on my family and every day responsibilities. When you focus on professional development, you help people find the best version of themselves and create upward mobility, stronger collaboration and better outcomes for all involved.

Wellframe Product Manager Stephan Rubin’s favorite perk is the health management and engagement platform’s regularly scheduled catered lunches. While the food is certainly delicious, for Rubin, it’s the time freed up from chasing down a lunch that really serves him well.

Of all the perks Wellframe offers, which ones matter most to you, and why?

Wellframe’s catered lunches provide a lot of upside beyond saving the $10 spent on yet another kale caesar salad. The scale and complexity of the opportunities we’re pursuing for patients require a tremendous amount of focus, concentration and collaboration — they’re really fun and challenging problems! Sometimes even the 20-minute break to go out and get that salad is disruptive when I’m on a roll and keenly focused on the problem at hand. Knowing there’s delicious fresh food waiting when I need it frees up my mind to focus on why I’m here: helping to deliver supportive solutions to patients in times of need.

The Wellframe office staff does an exceptional job feeding us a diverse variety of terrific food, and it’s led to more than one great lunchtime conversation — on days when I’m not “in the zone” on whatever market problem I’m solving. A lot of the folks here are big food and travel enthusiasts, and the catered lunches are a great way to bond with your teammates about who really has the best pizza in Boston. Santarpio’s is the correct answer, by the way, and get the lamb skewers too.

dispatch

With unlimited PTO, fitness subsidies and a continued education stipend as possible frontrunners for favorite perk, Dispatch Principal Architect Luke Samaha opted for the company’s monthly $100 Uber credit as his favorite perk. Here’s why.

Of all the perks Dispatch offers, which ones matter most to you, and why?

One that stands out for me is our monthly $100 Uber credit. Although we are in a prime location in a cool, loft-like office space in the North End, sometimes it’s nice to get out of the neighborhood and see what’s out there. It also shows that the company cares about us even when we aren’t in the office, which is nice.

Understanding the experience of on-demand service allows us to create a better experience for our own customers.

How have you taken advantage of this perk? What impact has it had on your life inside and outside the office?

I’ve been able to explore the city and pick up rides for friends on weekends, all on the company dime. It also can double as market research. Understanding the experience of on-demand service allows us to create a better experience for our own customers.
