General Description:

The NOC Engineer Tier II is responsible for maintaining Upnine’s Network Monitoring System’s remote core services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, configuring routers firewalls, and switches for customer locations. The NOC Engineer Tier II promptly responds to escalations from Tier I and service organization on customer issues. Responsible for communicating with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages for maintenance. The NOC Engineer Tier II is responsible for maintaining and remote troubleshooting of Upnine/customer network infrastructure, switches/firewall issues, hardware/software issues, power control modules, Video, Access Control and IoT integrations. Responsible for tracking the status of all inquiries to ensure 24hr closure or escalation to management if necessary, training Tier I support staff on common troubleshooting skillsets on all Upnine disciplines including partner integrations, servers, networks, and IT related devices. When required, NOC Engineer II is responsible for hands on commissioning systems in-house in preparation for delivery to client location. The NOC Engineer Tier II must be flexible to work any shift including overnights and weekends on a rolling basis to ensure proper coverage for our customers.

 

Work Experience Requirements:

· Server support: 2+ years (Preferred)

· Network support: 3+ years (Preferred)

· Cloud based networking

· Windows

· Experience with remote support applications (Bomgar)

· Proven experience with industry NMS tools

· Strong knowledge of: LAN / WAN / WLAN, DNS, MPLS, routing, switching

· Proven experience with programming Firewall/Router/Wireless devices

· Proven experience with monitoring, managing and building large scale multi-site networks

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to see and hear (naturally or with correction); speak clearly; coordinate eye-hand movements and use fingers skillfully; sit for long periods of time.

 

Education Requirements:

· Industry Certifications preferred: Juniper, Cisco, CIENA, Fortinet, Net+

 

Responsibilities:

- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including Cisco routers and switches.
- Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution.
- Perform network configuration and optimization tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth network operations.
- Implement and maintain network security measures.
- Conduct regular network performance monitoring and analysis.
- Assist in the design and implementation of network upgrades and expansions.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Skills:

- Proficient in Cisco routers and switches configuration and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Experience with BGP routing protocol.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, including LDAP, VMWare, Ethernet, QoS, WAN, and MPLS.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
