About the role

The Site Reliability Engineer will join our DevOps team that is responsible for building and maintaining a framework that deploys, operates, monitors, scales and maintains TrueMotion's backend. The ideal candidate will have experience with developing and operating scalable system in AWS environment, with good understanding of the fundamentals of security best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Release, monitor, scale and operate TrueMotion's backend application
  • Participate in code reviews and architecture meetings
  • Support and continuously improve our release and deployment pipeline
  • Build and operate tools that monitor backend production
  • Make sure backend services scale economically
  • Develop tooling framework
  • Help the dev team resolve production issues

Desired skills

  • 3+ years in systems engineering
  • Experience designing and documenting systems, including writing and reviewing code, to automate away problems within your squad’s domain.
  • Strong coding skills in at least one programming language, and a desire to pick up more. We work primarily in Python, with smatterings of shell script and Go.
  • In-depth understanding of AWS services and experience using EC2, SQS, Lambda, Dynamo, RDS (PostgreS), S3, Kinesis, ECS, and IAM
  • In depth knowledge & experience with Linux (we use a mix of Ubuntu and Amazon Linux), ideally with Docker, NGiИX, PostgreS, and/or Consul
  • Experience deploying or managing large scale distributed Linux environments
  • Partake in an on-call rotation alongside the engineers who build our production backends
  • Comfortable with large scale production systems and technologies, including: load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, and/or configuration management.

Preferred qualifications

  • Expert level Linux admin skills
  • Experience managing cassandra clusters
  • Experience in developing systems architecture
