Senior Software Engineer 

 EdX is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for our Learner team here in Cambridge. We take on large learner-facing initiatives across the whole edX stack from potential learners on the homepage, to engaged learners taking a course, through to supporting successful learners after a course has ended. We're looking for a strong engineer to help guide the team as well as implement and propose new features.

This is a full-stack engineering team that works mostly with Python and javascript, but the nature of the various projects offers opportunities to work in other languages as well!

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Contribute to (and lead when required) the Learner engineering team by leveraging your skills in technical direction, priority setting, and execution/delivery.
• Design, develop, deploy, and support scalable software systems.
• Evaluate and leverage different languages and software tools to effectively deliver learner value
• Support the open source community.

 Qualifications & Skills:

• Real-world experience with Python or other development languages.
• Able to write code for the full stack, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, Django, MySQL.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with React, Backbone, and webpack.
• Experience with Test Driven Development.
• BS in Computer Science or related field of study.
• Familiarity with standards compliant front-end development and accessibility best practices.
• Leadership and mentoring experience.
