Are you an experienced iOS developer that wants to join a company working to make driving safer and more affordable? Do you want to work for a small, growing startup to build and evolve our iPhone apps? In this role you would be programming in core motion and core location APIs, and implement algorithms designed by our data science team and using networking protocols to send and receive data from a backend server. You’ll lead new mobile projects from concept to implementation, including the development of key functionality and infrastructure. The ideal person is able to weigh technical and business considerations, work collaboratively with the team to reach decisions, and communicate them articulately to the team and board members. You inspire people to be awesome and...people would like to have a beer with you.

At TrueMotion we’re motivated by three things: working with great people who make it fun to be at work every day, solving hard problems, and making driving safer and more affordable. If you’re a positive, organized, self starter, then TrueMotion might be a great fit. Our patented technology precisely determines driver risk via data from a driver's smartphone. Insurance companies draw insights from this data, which is then used to help people become safer drivers and save money on car insurance. TrueMotion is backed by General Catalyst, Bain Capital Ventures and Lakestar.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the development of our iOS app store and B2B applications and SDK.
  • Scale the mobile team processes; improving release pipeline, test automation and monitoring (crash, trip capture, battery and data usage).
  • Help embed algorithms initially developed to run in the cloud back to the phone.
  • Confidently advocating for the iOS platform e.g: evaluating new frameworks, mentoring the team and leading the iOS technical vision at TrueMotion.

Desired Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience working with key technologies for the iOS platform (Swift, Objective-C and exposure to the following frameworks: CoreData, CoreLocation, CoreMotion, MapKit and push notifications and UIKit.)
  • Experience distributing apps to the Apple App Store, and navigating the Apple review process.
  • Experience architecting mobile application code for end user delivery, white label delivery, and SDK delivery.
  • Experience working on applications consuming JSON from RESTful services.
  • You have a strong intuitive sense for good user experience
  • Knowledgeable with test driven development (TDD) and behavior driven development (BDD) and debugging.

Pluses:

  • Previous experience building Android applications or willing to learn Android.
  • Knowledge of Agile planning and estimation

At this time only local candidates will be considered for this role and we are unable to provide sponsorship at this time.
