Marketing Events Specialist

The Marketing Events Specialist will be part of a team of dynamic professionals responsible for the execution of a variety of engaging, smart, innovative, industry-leading events. This individual will assist with the planning and execution of a variety of events (including speaking engagements, tradeshows, user workshops, and other lead generating events as needed) promoting EnerNOC’s products and services. This is an exciting role in a fast-paced, fast-growing company in a rapidly changing industry. The right candidate is a results driven, detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and has the poise, professionalism, and project management capabilities to contribute towards the execution of several successful events and provide support for a wide range of marketing functions.

The Marketing Events Specialist will collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organization (Sales, Design, Communications, Marketing, Marketing Operations and Product Marketing). The role requires event planning and event management experience as well as marketing communications experience (participation in the development and execution of program goals and objectives, vendor selection and relations, on-site support, event promotion, logistical management, post-event reporting, etc.).

The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, detail oriented, self-motivated, and have an outgoing personality who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy team environment. Excellent interpersonal, writing and communications skills are required. BS/BA degree required, preferably in event management, marketing or communications.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Planning and execution of user workshops, speaking engagements, tradeshows, and other lead generating events as needed
  • Interface and collaborate effectively with Marketing and Sales teams, various leaders and executives to communicate goals and initiatives, set expectations, and ensure that events are successful and all prospects and clients are receiving an on-brand, best-in-industry experience
  • Support overall marketing strategy for driving leads and meetings through events
  • Participate and run weekly planning meetings for various programs to help move projects along and influence decisions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Design team to assist in the development and management of marketing materials such as event invitations and other event collateral
  • Work with third party vendors such as hotel properties, transportation companies, audio-visual vendors, etc.
  • Secure event venues (including research) and work with the team to plan logistics of events
  • Evaluate and suggest improvements to planning processes as necessary to create efficiencies in planning process
  • Utilize CRM (salesforce.com) system to document registrations, responses, and attendance
  • Assist with budget tracking and post-event results tracking and reporting
  • Maintain speaking submissions, abstract inventory and deadlines
  • Prepare event briefing materials and talking points for employees attending marketing supported events
  • Promote EnerNOC’s products in relevant industry events through securing speaking engagements and product showcase opportunities
  • Support social media content contributions for events

Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years of B2B event management experience, software or technology industry a plus
  • Ability to apply expertise in B2B marketing to understanding and evangelizing the value EnerNOC brings to our customers
  • Ability to manage multiple long-term multi-stage projects in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with senior level internal stakeholders and across functional teams to reach common project goals
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals within and across teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and a team player
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Teamwork skills a must, ability to lead and manage resources
  • Knowledge/experience using Salesforce.com
  • Travel to events to oversee on-site execution is required (10-20%)
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, marketing or communications preferred
