(Summer) Advanced Analytics Intern: May to August 2024

Summary of Position
We are building a world-class global customer analytics organization to support teams like marketing, ecommerce, and post-purchase. SharkNinja is rich with data sources and a data-driven culture; we need analytic experts (like you!) to wrangle our data, derive meaningful insights, and impact the business. The successful candidate is intellectually curious to uncover new insights, self-driven to be an expert in their space, and highly-collaborative to advance the team forward.
Responsibilities
Note: exact project to be defined closer to internship start date to ensure it aligns with current business priorities and the individual intern’s skill set.
- Be an owner of your workstream. Deliver zero defect work. Identify opportunities to streamline or enhance how we operate today to improve efficiency and efficacy. Balance long term solutions with short term demands.
- Partner closely with business partners to understand and inform the strategy.
- Example project: Identify or develop the right metrics of success. Create user-friendly reporting appropriate for different audiences (tactical vs executive). Identify and execute against opportunities to automate (eg database connections in Excel or APIs into Domo). Foster a culture of using both data and expertise to make decisions.
- Example project: Conduct ad hoc analysis to understand the eCommerce customer experience for a new product launch. Use clickstream, transactional, and demographic data to answer questions like who is this customer, what is the product consideration cycle, and how do we optimize the site experience to drive conversions.
- Example project: Build a classification model to identify the different customer segments shopping our eCommerce site. Identify the right data sources, design the variables, select the appropriate modeling technique, evaluate model performance, and clearly communicate results and impact to the business.
- Example project: Conduct ad hoc analysis to establish standards, benchmarks, and best practices for social marketing. How many impressions are needed to instigate the “flywheel” on social? What data should we use when selecting influencers?
- Contribute to the team culture; includes collaborating, upskilling teammates, and knowledge sharing.
Skills & Experience
- Masters student or rising Senior for a Bachelors degree in relevant field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or analytics
- Prior relevant work experience (eg: internships) a plus
- Strong knowledge of data wrangling techniques such as outlier detection, disparate granularities, and transposition
- Strong knowledge of Excel features such as pivot tables, complex formulas, and database connections
- Experience in one programming language (SQL, python, R) and/or BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Sigma, PowerBI) not required but a plus
- Strong critical thinking skills for analysis set up and zero-defect delivery
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and organized
- Own ones work and effectively communicate progress to manager in a fast-paced work environment
- Consistently challenge the status quo to uncover new and improved ways of operating
- Knowledge of database connections, APIs, ETL/ELT, and data modeling, strong plus
