At TellusLabs, our goal is to provide insights from satellite imagery that will help solve the biggest problems facing society. How will we feed a rapidly growing global population? How will we manage our increasingly limited water resources? How can we best manage our land and forest resources in an era of climate change? The answers to these pressing questions can be obtained through the innovative use of satellite imagery and Earth data, and the private sector has to be part of the solution. We aim to be a big part of that story. TellusLabs thrives thanks to an interdisciplinary approach that combines, machine learning, statistics, remote sensing, and geospatial sciences. We are always looking for people who share our curiosity and our conviction.

As a Front End Engineer, you will be responsible for creating a web-based dashboard for insights in collaboration with back-end engineering and data science. This role will be responsible for launching the front-end development of an interactive map and data insight dashboard. So we want to know: What would be your approach for building a new interactive web application from scratch? What frameworks and libraries do you use? What are you excited about in the JavaScript ecosystem these days?

We’re hoping:

  • You are fluent in JavaScript development and love programming
  • You have experience with (and opinions about) at least one modern JavaScript framework like React and AngularJS
  • You have experience with (and opinions about) an ecosystem of JavaScript tools: build systems, testing frameworks
  • You can translate design comps into an interactive web application (HTML5, CSS)
  • You have a strong design sense and care about how product design affects UI/UX
  • You have experience with or are excited about building beautiful data visualizations
  • You have experience with or are excited about building interactive web maps with libraries like leaflet and services like CartoDB
  • You’re excited about learning and collaboration with back-end engineers, data scientists, and product leads
  • You’re familiar with and can communicate about APIs for data access

You’ll be working directly with the Head of Engineering working remotely in Philadelphia and the Head of Product in the central office in Boston.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
