Overview of the Role
The Front End Developer/Drupal Site Builder will play an integral role on the Digital Marketing Team. You will work on Acquia’s flagship web property, www.acquia.com, as well as other public-facing sites. In this hybrid role, you will work on a tight-knit team, interacting daily with the Backend Developer and Digital Content & Web Manager. You’ll have the opportunity to perform both site-building tasks and front end development work as you receive custom designs from our Designer and build them from the ground up. Tasks will include module installation, content type creation, site configuration, building views, implementing strategies for custom layouts and other Drupal site building tasks. Front end work will include writing HTML markup, custom CSS, compiling in Sass or Less, utilizing variables when possible, implementing standard Drupal coding standards. Custom jQuery or JavaScript may be required. You’ll be implementing fully responsive, component-based designs, based on our style guide.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Proficiency in general site building in Drupal (bonus points if experienced in Drupal 8), particularly with site configuration, panels, context, views, installing modules, building content types, and adding fields
- Adept with working on large, complex sites (bonus points if experienced in multi-lingual sites)
- Experience developing on a team, using Git version control, Github (bonus points for experience with Acquia Cloud), scrum methodology, Jira, and Atlassian product suite
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment
- Ability to create custom template files for D7 and Twig files for D8
- Capable of writing custom pre-process theme functions
- Implement custom JavaScript solutions when required
- Using Sass and/or Less and tools for compiling
- Skilled at collaborating with team members and partners in a matrixed environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organization skills, and dedication to quality
- Commitment to achieve results against personal and team’s quarterly goals
- Willingness to perform Ad Hoc duties, as assigned
- Ability to travel, as necessary
Background and Skills
- Must have Drupal site building and theming experience
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, basic jQuery and JavaScript
- Sharing a Portfolio of previous related work projects
- Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment where our employees are our customers
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
- Extra points for passing the Acquia Certified Front End Developer exam or D7 or D8
