The Company

Wistia is not your average B2B SaaS company.

We are a leading video platform for businesses that want to grow using video. With Wistia, businesses small and large can create, customize, host, share, and analyze their hard-working videos. It's our hope that with Wistia's video toolkit, companies can create more human connections with their prospects, customers, and employees.

We are growing fast even though we’ve been around since 2006. We unabashedly enjoy the fun culture and nimbleness typical of a tech startup, but we’re profitable and have chosen to raise only seed money, so we have the luxury of being able to control our investments into whatever we think will best serve the long-term value of the company.

The Position

We're looking for a high-energy Events Manager who takes pride in executing unique and flawless experiences for customers and prospects alike. As the Events Marketing Manager, you will report into the VP of Marketing. You’ll own, plan, organize and run our annual flagship event, WistiaFest, as well as our usergroup, tradeshow and conference sponsorship strategy, where you’ll be looking to evangelize Wistia as the premier video platform in this exploding space. This is a highly creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative role. You will have significant autonomy day to day, but will also interact with many parts of the organization, including your marketing teammates, sales, creative, customer happiness, engineering, finance and more.

Your typical day includes:

  • Leading the vision, planning, logistics and execution of our annual video conference here in Boston, WistiaFest.
  • Finding and evaluating external tradeshows, conferences and events that align with our events and business strategies and can contribute to our awareness, consideration and lead generation goals
  • Collaborating with our buiness development team to find interesting ways to work with our partners to engage their audiences in unique and compelling Wistia or co-branded experiences
  • Ensuring we have best-in-class methods of measuring the impact of our participation in events
  • Planning or assisting with other Wistia-hosted events in Boston or elsewhere
  • Owning logistics and providing support when we sponsor or participate in other companies’ events
  • Assisting with finding and coordinating speaking opportunities for other Wistians and helping with the logistics and experience planning
  • Communicating and evangelizing across the Wistia team about what we’re doing, why, and how they can get involved

This job might be for you if you:

  • Have about 4-6 years of successful hands-on experience with marketing events planning and management
  • Love people and are super high-energy and personable, without being overbearing or intimidating
  • Possess a creative flair that you use to bring fresh ideas to your event planning process- you don’t settle for a “been there, done that” experience
  • Naturally and successfully collaborate and build consensus across many personality styles
  • Easily strike a balance between thinking strategically and executing tactically
  • Mastered the art of multitasking and time management - you are both fast and effective, and can’t help but to proactively nail down even the minutest details and logistics
  • Excel at managing and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Boast superb communication skills and are known to be eloquent, effective, and persuasive
  • Are comfortable with change (we’re growing fast, so change is constant!)
  • Are driven by an internal motivation to contribute and make a positive difference for the team and business overall
  • Love to deliver results and make an impact on an organization; strongly dislike bureaucracy and politics
  • Want bonus points? You already love, use and evangelize video as a powerful communication tool

Upon coming on board, you can expect to:

First three months:

  • Gain an understanding of Wistia’s business, goals, and strategic objectives
  • Learn how to navigate an evolving organization to collaborate and get things done
  • Very quickly become an expert in the video for business space - including a deep understanding of our own products and features, as well as those of the competitors
  • Work with our outgoing Events Manager (we are losing her to the West Coast!) to maximize knowledge transfer and ensure a seamless transition
  • Assist with finalizing plans and logistics for WistiaFest, June 11-13
  • Create/revamp reporting and dashboards to ensure proper measurement and KPI focus against our goals

Three to twelve months:

  • Evaluate and enhance our existing events strategy
  • Create and improve the processes for planning speaking engagements for others across the company
  • Educate and teach team members about what makes a Wistia event experience special and memorable
  • Work with the sales and email teams to ensure relevant and timely communications and nurturing plans are in place to maximize lead outcomes
  • Think creatively about how to better enhance our event experience, whether it is a sponsorship, our own events or working with a partner
  • Ensure feedback loops are in place and there is strong alignment with sales and marketing

Your success will be measured by:

  • Strengthening brand awareness and consideration amongst event audiences
  • Generating qualified leads for our marketing and sales teams
  • Improving satisfaction and NPS of WistiaFest attendees
  • Feedback from your various teammates across the company on your ability to effectively collaborate and add value
  • Not only the “what” but also the “how” of your work - do you uphold Wistia’s values in your efforts?
