If you have a passion for architecture as an enabler of bringing vision and strategy to life and are excited by bringing people and ideas together to define future state architectures and roadmaps, this may be the opportunity you're looking for.
In this role, you will work in a fast-paced, challenging, innovative, and highly collaborative environment and be expected to work with significant autonomy and influence under an internal consulting model. Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and oversee the design of a comprehensive business architecture blueprint aligned with business and technology strategic goals and targeted outcomes.
  • Analyze and develop a robust business model that effectively connects our business strategies with our business goals, ensuring alignment and coherence.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management, business leaders, IT architecture, and business development teams, to connect strategies and roadmaps with operational decisions.
  • Create and maintain capability models to facilitate the identification of innovative and effective solutions that address business challenges and opportunities.
  • Drive the establishment of best practices for key business architecture services within holistic Enterprise Architecture practices, promoting consistency and efficiency across the organization.
  • Facilitate translation of business pain points and future state capabilities into solution needs to inform future state architectures and roadmaps.
  • Facilitate understanding of the application and technology portfolio's support alignment with capabilities and identify opportunities for potential improvement and portfolio optimization/rationalization.

The Team
You will be part of a small, highly collaborative team of six people providing a variety of business architecture, application portfolio management, and other architecture-support-related services (e.g., architecture governance, process management, etc.) to the Enterprise Architecture team - and in some cases, to the MassMutual Federated Architecture Community. (This community consists primarily of a network of organizationally aligned Solution and Business Architects and their managers as well as Enterprise Architecture team members.)
The Impact:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly enable business and technology results across the MassMutual Enterprise. You will establish yourself as a trusted partner engaging business and technology stakeholders to define the key capabilities and enabling technologies that bring MassMutual's vision and strategies to life - and advise on business and technology implementations. This will include:

  • Facilitating strategically aligned translation from targeted business outcomes to aligned future-state architectures and roadmaps while balancing immediate and long-term benefits and risks
  • Guiding informed, enterprise-aware, innovative, and target-state-aligned business and technology decisions

  • Protecting MassMutual from technology risk and enabling business value through outcome-targeted enterprise architecture practices, processes, and governance
  • Enabling MassMutual's federated architecture community by providing and/or facilitating guidance, mentorship, education, and supporting knowledge resources

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years of experience as a senior business or enterprise architect or business analyst with thought leadership experience (e.g., providing internal or external consulting services to complex, strategic initiatives)

The Ideal Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of business architecture methodologies, frameworks, and best practices combined with an experienced view of how and when to apply them.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing business architecture blueprints and roadmaps.
  • Ability to think about business in a way that is abstracted from how the business functions and how processes and technology are implemented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect business strategies with operational decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.
  • Sound understanding of business principles and concepts such as how trends and markets influence business, what differentiating factors are for the business, what and how values are created, and how strategies may be supported.
  • Facilitation and training skills for groups of various sizes and seniority.
  • Ability to independently lead complex architecture engagements involving multiple disciplines and/or business units.
  • Business Architecture formal training or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with CTM/Troux or other Enterprise Architecture tools.
