EdX is looking for a creative and detail-oriented individual who will contribute to the edX mission by assisting the marketing team with email engagement and retention campaigns. This role with work closely with the Acquisition, Product Marketing and Education Services teams to build thoughtful and high-performing email campaigns to drive learners toward a positive experience in edX courses from the top universities and institutions with the goal of increasing learner engagement, course completion, and revenue.

This is a contractor position and will start out between 25 to 35 hours per week, depending on the volume of work.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop email marketing strategies and campaigns to engage, retain and convert learners
  • Write compelling body copy, subject lines, preview text, CTAs, and more
  • Edit email templates using HTML and GUI to accommodate content, while ensuring quality and performance across key email clients
  • Manage learner email lists on a course by course basis using data analysis and database management skills
  • Work collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders to ensure that email best practices are followed consistently
  • Test, measure results and optimize campaigns for conversion
  • Coordinate with clients and partners to ensure accuracy and consistent messaging
  • Create and deploy emails using ESP tools and HTML
  • Ensure compliance with various spam and permission laws
  • Track performance, and report on results for team learning
  • Ensure email messaging is 100% accessible to everyone on both web and mobile
  • Additional marketing duties and responsibilities as required to meet organization goals

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • BA/BS or equivalent working experience
  • HTML and CSS knowledge is required
  • 1-2 years hands-on experience managing daily email production, execution, optimization, and reporting of customer-facing email campaigns (targeting, testing, and optimization) for consumer retention and conversion efforts
  • Excellent understanding of email marketing concepts and metrics
  • Experience with Email Service Providers (SailThru experience a plus)
  • Highly analytical and able to derive meaning from data through A/B testing and email optimization
  • Excellent writer and communicator (in both the written and verbal form)
  • Ability to work independently and to triage competing requests on a day-to-day basis
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to work on and meet deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills

Preferred:

  • Some SQL experience
  • Sailthru experience
