Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for an experienced and incredibly detail-oriented Director of Quality Assurance to join our team in Boston, MA. This is key to our business, key to our customer satisfaction, and key to our ability to reach the next level of software innovation. This is an opportunity to make an enormous impact, starting from the ground up! Rapid innovation is contingent on strong testing strategy and execution. That is where you come in.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, manage, and grow QA automation teams
  • Create teams and infrastructure to support automated and manual testing of the many Chewy software applications:
  • com (desktop web, mobile web, iOS, and android) to make sure we continue to WOW the customers with superior quality and experience – make sure our net promoter score stays astronomically high
  • Internal applications – order management system, pricing tools, system services, API – ensure that we can maintain 24/7 operations with no downtime to due quality issues, making sure the systems are operating properly and consistently, covering all testing needs
  • Warehouse management system - tackle quality in a system that is always running, exponentially growing, and hard to automate. A challenge in need of a worthy adversary.
  • Partner with development, product, and design leadership to deliver Chewy’s consumer applications and API layer
  • Drive strategic initiatives to reduce time to market, increase quality and expand test automation
  • Provide career development, technical leadership and mentoring for a strong team of test leaders.
  • Work with your team to architect application test frameworks and infrastructure
  • Keeping abreast of techniques and tools to make testing more effective and efficient.

What you’ll need:

  •  BS or MS in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Prefer 10+ years of related experience (ideally consumer applications) and 2+ years of experience with mobile testing
  • Strong history of delivering successful projects with high quality
  • Success in the development of a high performing technical team
  • Broad technology awareness, particularly in the testing space
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading large teams (including managing 2nd line managers)
  • Ideally, would have worked on and released one or more mobile applications
  • Ability to architect, design and develop complex engineering solutions, with good sense on estimation
  • Be a role model for managers and engineers on the team, providing timely coaching and mentoring
  • Passion for ensuring high-quality architecture and customer experience
