EdX is looking for a highly motivated, intellectually curious and data-driven individual who will lead the edX global acquisition and retention strategy in an exciting and dynamic mission-driven organization.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing , the Director of Growth Marketing is responsible for developing and executing a clearly defined marketing strategy to drive rapid growth, bring qualified learners to edX, engage them in edX courses, and develop them into loyal edX learners and supporters. The goal is to develop and foster a community of learners who not only benefit from the edX experience but contribute to the edX mission financially and as ambassadors.

  • Combine data, technology and behavioral insights to drive and optimize innovative online marketing programs
  • Create and drive strategies to bring qualified learners to edX and optimize to meet and exceed registration, enrollment and revenue goals at an effective ROI
  • Work collaboratively with product teams to insure customer touch points: web, mobile, email are optimized for acquisition and retention
  • Partner with edX university and institutional members in collaborative marketing initiatives
  • Lead and grow a high quality marketing team to meet company’s strategic, revenue and mission goals

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be the voice of growth. You'll be obsessed with the growth of our learner base and revenues. You'll know the key metrics by heart. You'll feel terribly excited when they grow the way you want.
  • Master the internal landscape. You'll have a very clear view of the entire funnel, from lead generation to activation, referral, retention and lifetime value. You'll understand our learners, their motivations, their context.
  • Master the external landscape. You'll know what other successful consumer and education companies do. You're up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.
  • Optimize the whole funnel. Inspired by our learners, our features, other online companies, one of the newsletters you receive every day, and/or your own creativity, you'll regularly come up with new ideas to generate and convert leads. In addition to online marketing ideas, you'll also come up with clever offline marketing tactics.
  • Because you know that there is only so much you can do, you'll naturally and strictly prioritize ideas based on expected ROI, leveraging the right data points.
  • Implement your ideas. You know how to get things done, by leading and motivating others, collaborating with other teams and by setting an example.
  • Measure, refine, improve. You'll use data to continually monitor your experiments, ending the ones that do not deliver and amplifying the ones that do.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years progressive marketing experience with Director of Marketing role in a small, high growth, fast-paced company or Marketing Manager in a large fast-paced online company
  • Demonstrated success defining and executing data-driven customer and revenue growth strategies.
  • Experience managing acquisition and email programs.
  • Experience and understanding of Google Analytics, SEM, SEO, Mobile, CRM, A/B testing, Landing Page Optimization, Customer Segmentation and Personalization
  • Experience creating and presenting marketing strategy and business data.

  • BS/MS in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field
