Back-end Developers are expected to be highly skilled in making APIs fast and intuitive. The team owns not only the externalization of the API, but the engines used to drive the APIs and their performance (i.e MySQL, ElasticSearch, etc.). The right individual will be working closely with a small team of highly skilled individuals from varied backgrounds to build an API that supports all the Catalant web properties.

Responsibilities will include:

• Partner with front-end developers and product management to build new APIs
• Continually improve performance of existing APIs 
• Help define best practices for writing scalable APIs 
• Learn and use new technologies 
• Devlop and maintain automated tests

Pre-requisites:

• 1 to 4 years of experience in web development
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent) 
• Deep skills in Python (or equivalent OO language like Java) 
• Experience with Linux/MySQL/Apache (or equivalent)

Huge bonus points if you:

• Have experience with Flask/SQLAlchemy
• Have experience building RESTful APIs 
• Have experience with ElasticSearch 
• Can provide us with any samples of your work
