Systems & Analytics Associate

Boston, MA

EnerNOC, a leading provider of Demand Response (DR) and Energy Intelligence Software (EIS), has an immediate need for a Systems & Analytics Associate to work in its Boston office. The Systems and Analytics group contributes to EnerNOC’s mission by building and maintaining systems that support DR performance evaluation, financial reporting, portfolio and risk management, and other strategic quantitative analysis. In this role, your main responsibility will be to develop and maintain our R-based analytical systems used to assess performance and payments after DR Events.

As a Systems & Analytics Associate, you will become an expert working with the systems and data driving DR at thousands of customer sites across the globe. You will have the opportunity to analyze and explore trends related to DR, and increasingly, battery storage offerings. You will also become knowledgeable with program rules across EnerNOC’s 50+ DR programs. On the technical side, you will quickly become an expert with R, Shiny and Salesforce’s API, in addition to having SQL and Python exposure.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop R-based tools supporting EnerNOC’s delivery of DR services across the globe
  • Develop Shiny-based user interfaces to streamline processes and allow internal-user data exploration
  • Holistically analyze our systems and identify process/tool improvements that enable scalable and repeatable results
  • Scope, develop and present to stakeholders on ad-hoc analytical projects
  • Work with program owners to integrate new programs and market changes into our systems
  • Work with team members to troubleshoot issues and structurally address root causes
  • Improve and maintain documentation of shared code
  • Collaborate with others on cross-functional initiatives
  • All other tasks and responsibilities as requested by management

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, with a degree in a quantitative/analytical field (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Statistics, Economics) or another field with demonstrated ability to work with and derive insights from large amounts of data
  • Working knowledge of an object oriented programming language such as R, MATLAB, Python, etc.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis, visualization, and statistics
  • Ability to introduce new concepts into an existing process
  • Attention to detail and an inquisitive nature
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance conflicting priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-driven context
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast paced, forward moving environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage high stress situations calmly and effectively

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in energy, data analytics, engineering, or similar industry with quantitative focus
  • Prior experience with process improvement and project management
  • Hands-on experience working with Salesforce
