Site Deployment Engineer - IT Builds Team

At Wayfair, we are looking to grow our Wayfair IT Operations team by bringing on board a talented individual who wants broad exposure to the technologies that support our infrastructure and our large-scale Internet e-commerce platform. We offer an opportunity for talented individuals to get on board with an organization that has similar potential to Amazon, eBay and Google. As a IT Build Engineer, you will collaborate with a talented team and dive into challenging technical problems to meet tight deadlines. This job requires a unique combination of flexibility, creativity, innovation, leadership, and effective communication. You will travel extensively (~50%) to locations in North America.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolving users' application questions or problems in the areas of software configurations/setup, product functionality and bugs/enhancements
  • Building a strong relationship with the business to become a “trusted advisor”.
  • Serving as primary support liaison between company and user for urgent support issues
  • Keeping user informed of how and when problems are resolved
  • Perform follow up, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware/software
  • Promoting and maintaining a high quality, professional, service & adoption oriented company image among users
  • May travel to assist users in other sites on occasions
  • Performing on-site hardware and software support during initial system deployment
  • Leading large teams through setup and configuration of software/application, hardware systems
  • Managing onsite relationships with multiple internal and external teams during the on-site implementation.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree from a 4-year college or university is preferred but not required
  • Three to five years of current IT Support Experience
  • A high degree of technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • A strong sense of customer service, attention to detail and desire for organization
  • Active directory experience, including Group Policy Objects and User Profiles
  • Unix/Linux (particularly FreeBSD) knowledge/interest a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize appropriately.
  • Scripting ability, especially using Powershell, VBScript and/or PHP, a large plus

An interest in working hard and being challenged in a fast-paced environment,

Cursory knowledge of networking and network topologies, such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Technical skills including familiarity with Linux, Java, SCCM, XML, SQL, and database administration (MsSQL, Oracle, etc)

Comfort working as both part of a high-performing team and as an entirely independent performer

Excellent communications skills combined with proven analytical and technical/mechanical skills
