Role Description: Senior Software Engineer - CockroachDB 

Role Purpose:

Wasabi is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a specialized focus on CockroachDB. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in SQL and distributed systems to design, develop, and optimize robust metadata storage solutions that will scale to trillions of records. Your responsibilities will include the development and fine-tuning of our database systems, ensuring their scalability, security, and high performance. Collaborating with various teams, you will be a key player in maintaining and improving our database infrastructure to meet evolving needs and challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performanceof our CockroachDB deployment by directly contributing to Wasabi’s metadata storage layer. 
• Provide technical expertise on the inner workings of CockroachDB to a broad range of stakeholders. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute strategies for optimizing database performance and resolving challenges. 

Requirements:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
• Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in software engineering. Candidates with exceptional skills and lesser experience may be considered. 
• Proficiency with Golang, C#, Java, or other high level language. 
• Experience with database schema design and DevOps practices. 
• Skills in database performance tuning for large-scale, high-throughput systems. 
• Strong understanding of SQL and efficient query optimization. 
• Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills and collaborative team working ability. Willingness to learn from and contribute to team knowledge. 
• Adaptability: Flexible in adapting to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with a focus on delivering results and efficient execution. 
• Nice to have:
• Experience with open source contribution.
• Experience with distributed systems: experience with distributed systems/NoSQL/NewSQL.
• Familiarity with Cloud Storage: Insights into S3 or other cloud storage solutions are beneficial, though not the primary responsibility of this team.
