The Senior Manager, Airline Review Strategy and Business Development, Flights will have overall business ownership for TripAdvisor’s Airline Review product and will be responsible for the growth strategy of Airline Reviews. The role will develop and execute a plan for Airline Review collection and syndication, as well as deliver the content goals and initiatives on a global basis. The role will align closely with the business development efforts related to the Flight product and share responsibilities for the partner facing airline relationships in support of Airline Reviews. In coordination with other internal stakeholders, the role will develop and define the overall road-map and support strategy for Airline Reviews and develop merchandising and other site placements for the purpose of strengthening Airline relationships and promoting the TripAdvisor brand. In addition, the role will be pivotal in introducing and driving industry adoption of TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Airline Award and Badge products. The role will require interaction with airlines, media, travel sites, technology partners, and others.

As the champion for the Airline Reviews product both internally and externally, the role will help manage key industry implementations and strengthen TripAdvisor’s existing airline partnerships. Reporting to the Global Director of Business Development, Flights, the role includes:

  • Spearheading our business development efforts to grow strategic review collection partnerships with key airline partners
  • Complementing our account management efforts to deepen client relationships and improve TripAdvisor brand visibility through existing partners
  • Coordinating with a team of Flights product managers and business development executives to grow revenue and achieve desired results for Airline Reviews
  • Raising our profile within the tourism and media trade industries around the world through networking and promoting Airline Review content with media as appropriate

What You'll Do:

The Senior Manager role is primarily responsible for managing the Airline review partnerships and syndication business, with the aim of maximizing reach and brand exposure for Airline Reviews around the world. It requires solid management, negotiations, sales, relationship building, analytical and presentation skills. With this background, you will be responsible for:

- shaping the strategy to meet agreed upon quantitative and qualitative goals;

- collaborating with team leads across Product, Business Development and Marketing;

- feeding market and client intelligence into the product development process;

- leading negotiations and managing the implementation of Review Collection programs.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with Business Development Directors to encourage airlines to adopt and endorse TripAdvisor Airline Reviews, badges, awards, and content.
  • Manage syndication and licensing opportunities for both airline reviews and SeatGuru content on a global basis.
  • Collaborate with senior members of the Flights team and other stakeholders to articulate our partnerships strategy and meet agreed upon goals and success measures.
  • Work across the company to align and develop the plan, structure and resources needed to meet agreed strategic goals and targets across the brand distribution, content collection and revenue areas, identifying necessary trade-offs.
  • Advocate and promote Airline Reviews and Travelers’ Choice Awards within the travel industry and in the media.
  • Work with the Business Development team to identify and prioritize potential segments and key prospects for Airline Review partnerships.
  • Assist Business Development Directors with partner negotiations and agreement structures related to Airline Reviews.
  • Coordinate with the Business Development and Sales teams within TripAdvisor to best leverage business relationships across the company and present partners with a cohesive view of their opportunities to work with TripAdvisor.
  • Work with product, business development, marketing and engineering teams to implement a business roadmap, including contributing to specifications, reviewing design plans, developing timelines and monitoring success.
  • Work with the Flights Marketing team and the Consumer Brand Marketing team to develop appropriate branding messages and collateral for partners.

Other skills:

  • A minimum of 7 years of global business development experience or a senior role in airline distribution or marketing.
  • Must have an outstanding track record of prospecting potential key partners, negotiating contracts and signing up key prospects.
  • Must excel at managing and growing Strategic/Key Accounts directly and/or through a team of Account Managers.
  • A deep understanding of airline marketing as well as online media.
  • Work closely with diverse teams both inside and outside the company.
  • Displays outstanding business acumen and judgment.
  • Has excellent written communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Fluent in English. Fluency in any other European languages, a plus.
  • Confident with Excel, PowerPoint, and SalesForce.
