As Director of Business Development, you'll manage your own pipeline throughout the entire sales cycle: from prospecting and lead generation to negotiation and closing deals. Must be an all-star hustler who is comfortable wearing all sorts of hats. This person will work closely with the CEO to grow the company.
What you’ll be doing:
Developing and closing new business at the right executive levels within our target prospects
Conducting cold outreach to R1 universities
Delivering demos and enhancing the content and structure of those demos as OpenScholar grows
Attending applicable area Trade Shows to engage potential clients
Collaborating with Marketing to increase awareness of OpenScholar
The perfect candidate has:
Experience selling a product not budgeted for already, with multiple benefits to multiple decision makers
A proven sales record selling SaaS or B2B products to universities
An extraordinary capacity to think on your feet and manage tough questions from prospective clients
An engaging personality, a healthy sense of humor, and exceptional people skills
An uncanny capacity to break the ice, to quickly isolate what somebody needs, and to cut to the chase and close.
Excellent negotiating skills; ability to focus prospects on value, not cost.
