Director of Business Development

Sales | Boston, MA

 

As Director of Business Development, you'll manage your own pipeline throughout the entire sales cycle: from prospecting and lead generation to negotiation and closing deals. Must be an all-star hustler who is comfortable wearing all sorts of hats. This person will work closely with the CEO to grow the company. 

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing and closing new business at the right executive levels within our target prospects

  • Conducting cold outreach to R1 universities

  • Delivering demos and enhancing the content and structure of those demos as OpenScholar grows

  • Attending applicable area Trade Shows to engage potential clients

  • Collaborating with Marketing to increase awareness of OpenScholar

 

The perfect candidate has:

  • Experience selling a product not budgeted for already, with multiple benefits to multiple decision makers

  • A proven sales record selling SaaS or B2B products to universities 

  • An extraordinary capacity to think on your feet and manage tough questions from prospective clients

  • An engaging personality, a healthy sense of humor, and exceptional people skills 

  • An uncanny capacity to break the ice, to quickly isolate what somebody needs, and to cut to the chase and close.

  • Excellent negotiating skills; ability to focus prospects on value, not cost.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Bias for action

  • Hungry to learn

  • Organized

  • Self-motivated

 

Compensation:

  • Outstanding earning potential including salary, uncapped commission structure and equity.
