We are looking for a Consulting Manager to join the Consulting Services team within our Customer Success division. Your job will be to support the design and delivery of athenahealth’s consulting capabilities, with the goal of measurably enhancing the performance of our clients.  

   

Qualified candidates have extensive healthcare industry knowledge, and functional knowledge in practice management, clinical workflow, or population health management. Candidates must also be comfortable challenging the status quo with business leaders, and be able to make compelling, data-driven cases to facilitate practice transformation towards best practices.  The ideal Consulting Services Manager is a self-starter who’s consistently pushing boundaries on work quality, enjoys fostering client relationships, and is consistently thinking through how we can improve as a team with each new engagement.    

  

The Team:  The Consulting Services team is a driven group of consultants with diverse backgrounds in healthcare and extensive experience driving organizational change. Most team members came from leadership positions in industry, have worked at leading healthcare consulting firms, or both.  What differentiates athenahealth’s Consulting Services from competitors is our unique blend of market knowledge, practice workflow expertise, and functional knowledge of the athenaNet platform, which culminate in engagements engineered to favorably move Key Performance Indicators.  

   

Job Responsibilities  

  • Build effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, peers, direct reports and athenistas across various levels and departments  
  • Become a domain and subject matter expert on practice management operations, clinical workflows, and Value Based Care / population health management.  Leverage expertise to create best practices artifacts, continuously evaluate how engagements can be made more impactful, and work with internal teams to inform development and extract new tools & artifacts to support project delivery.    
  • Manage the delivery of consulting engagements while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction (including independently developing, managing and owning the overall project plan, timelines for key deliverables, and billable utilization).  
  • Perform analysis, summarize findings, generate client deliverables, and deliver client presentations  
  • Support internal departments in selling consulting services including scoping, proposing and presenting engagements to clients  

  

Typical Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree required  
  • 3-10 years of professional experience leading project teams   
  • Previous consulting experience, and/or experience using athenahealth products are a plus  
  • Self-starter, highly organized, and possess a desire to learn  
  • Ability to travel (up to 80% per week)
