Product Designer, Pay with GasBuddy

Full-Time | Product Designer | Boston, MA and/or Remote

GasBuddy is looking for a data-driven product designer focused on improving customer acquisition and retention while driving business outcomes. You are just as excited about the latest A/B test results and insights from your latest user interview as you are shipping a new design to InVision for your squad to review.

As a Product Designer on the Pay with GasBuddy squad, you’ll be working to help our consumers understand that our free version of Pay with GasBuddy is the number one way to save on our platform.  You will conduct user research to understand our consumers and to provide design experiences (iterative and non-iterative) that resonate with our audience, leading to acquisition and retention in our program.  You will work closely with cross-functional engineering and product teams to ideate, clarify, test and support your designs from inception to completion. You will share the responsibility for all aspects of conducting user research with your Product Manager.

You should be a strong thought partner who listens carefully to stakeholders, but is also willing to stand up and advocate for the user’s needs. You embrace lean thinking and are creative about how to get that next increment of learning. Like any successful designer, you have a growth mindset. Lastly, you understand the business context of your design work and can tie it to measurable outcomes.

Results you will deliver:

  • Design iterative and non-iterative experiences that grow our Pay with GasBuddy program.
  • Design game mechanics into our Pay with GasBuddy program to drive retention and increased rewards for our consumers.
  • Conduct user research to gain a deep understanding of our consumers.
  • Identify opportunities and make tradeoffs with Product and Engineering teams as a primary thought partner.
  • Contribute to evolving our design patterns for the consumer experience.
  • Work with engineers to clarify and review designs before they go live.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of B2C product design experience in an agile environment with distributed teams (all teams are in the United States and Canada - no offshore teams).
  • Aptness to focus on outcomes over releases and building customer value above all.
  • Proficient with Sketch (our primary UI design tool) or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Proficient with InVision and Craft Manager.
  • Experience with maintaining Design Systems and Component Libraries.
  • Wireframing, building interactive prototypes, conducting user testing, and refining ideas to solve various interaction challenges.
  • Strong time-management skills; understanding how to balance shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace failure as an opportunity to learn.

Desired:

  • Experience with consumer facing products.
  • Good understanding of mobile and web analytics tools.
  • Good understanding of iOS, Android, and web platforms and the technology stacks underpinning each.
  • Experience with designing and generating Lottie animations.
  • Strong illustrative skills.
