Group Underwriter - REMOTE US
THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Group Underwriting Consultant you will appraise and underwrite groups to assess mortality and morbidity risk in alignment with risk tolerances within company guidelines, ensuring equitable treatment of policyholders and producers and to meet the company's financial objectives including revenue and sales growth. This role will also:
Approve, classify, and decline Groups on own signature
Provide guidance to the field force and home office staff regarding underwriting requirements and issues
Underwrite Group/ Multi-life products within authority limits
Handle a broad scope of projects and anticipate needed changes.

THE TEAM
The Worksite Underwriting Team is focused on managing and growing Voluntary and Executive products. Our team has strong business acumen and evaluates opportunities to profitably grow our portfolio, in partnership with sales. We work collaboratively to find solutions that address consumer, employer, and broker needs.
THE IMPACT
We are looking for an experienced underwriting professional who can deliver value by approving classifying and declining Groups on own signature while providing guidance to the field force and home office staff regarding underwriting problems and requirements.
The key responsibilities include:
Analyze employer information and group demographics to generate presale or renewal underwriting offers in accordance risk guidelines, authority limits and service level expectations.
Professionally and effectively negotiate with Regional Sales Directors and Producers to effectively balance our requirements for top line and bottom line growth.
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to make connections as required to render appropriate judgments/decisions which support our growth, expense and profit objectives.
Professionally and effectively communicate decisions including case characteristics relative to pricing expectations/risk guidelines, and decision rationale.
Effectively evaluate and negotiate enrollment conditions to optimize participation results.
Ensure appropriate decisions and actions are recommended to support remediation of poor enrollment results, including escalation if warranted.
Underwrite Group/ Multi-life products within authority limits.
Handles broad scope of projects and is able to anticipate change.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
8 years of Underwriting experience
Group market and product knowledge including some or all of the following products: Executive Disability Income, COLI/BOLI, Executive Group Life, Group Whole Life, Group Universal Life, Group Critical Illness, Group Accident and other general Voluntary Benefits Products
Basic knowledge and application of general principles of group insurance
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Products – Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.
Willing to work as a 100% REMOTE US employee
THE IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Group insurance general industry knowledge
Group Long Term Disability underwriting experience
Understanding of business operating model including TPA and Enrollment Partnerships, capabilities, as well as internal processes, procedures, technology and other systems
Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience + bonus
