Payments System Improvement's vision is to deliver a contemporary and trusted payment system that works for everyone and to facilitate material, end-to-end advances in the U.S. payment system that promote integrity, efficiency, and accessibility.
This position is responsible for supporting critical Bank strategic objectives to ensure that the retail payment system evolves with safety, accessibility, and efficiency. Position requires complex analytical skills, involvement in multiple business and technology functions, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Conduct primary and secondary industry analysis and research on alternative payments fraud issues and trends, interpreting market conditions, analyzing the competitive landscape, identifying potential opportunities, trends, new technologies, risks and barriers.
• Track and report project progress and activities
• Collaborate/network with payments industry stakeholders (banking, payments, mobile carriers, vendors, processors, etc.) to understand and address barriers and other issues related to implementation of payments in the US and risks from fraud perspective.
• Stay informed on available academic and industry retail payments literature and studies that relate to or impact business and consumer payment trends and behaviors.
• Monitor market, risks, competitive and technical developments as it relates to payments fraud and security.
• Communicate results of research, analysis, findings and recommendations in written policy and business briefings to inform senior management and policymakers.
• Prepare internal and external presentations for industry and other public audiences.

Knowledge and Experience:
• Bachelor or Master`s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or technical training
• 5+ years of related fraud policy/detection/prevention experience
• Knowledge of the U.S. payment systems and infrastructures, including credit/debit processing, check, ACH, Wire, and faster payments
• Strong technical aptitude in systems that support the payments ecosystem and fraud detection, prevention, and mitigation as it relates to payments.
• Knowledge of security, identity management, and authentication solutions
• Excellent analytical, research, and quantitative data analysis capabilities
• Strong written communication skills: able to craft communication for a variety of stakeholders
• Possess good organizational skills; sound business judgment; initiative; flexibility; and ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
• Good interpersonal, presentation, and project management skills
• Possess strong verbal and communication skills.
• High level of self-motivation and initiative; strong team player
While open to location and remote work, residency in First District or near a Federal Reserve facility is preferred.
