The Role

The Vice President of Retail is a hands-on leader with experience in operating physical retail stores. The position will work cross functionally with all areas of the business ensuring seamless execution of all initiatives across all channels. Specifically, this leader will work closely with the senior leadership team to develop the companies physical retail expansion plan including defining the strategy, roll out timing, budgets and defining and measuring of metrics for success.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy for different physical experiences, including permanent store, pop-ups, rapid, deployable concepts and store within stores
  • Create a rollout plan, measuring opportunity, leveraging data, assessing the market and laying out cadence for openings
  • Oversee store design and construction, while managing and optimizing costs
  • Oversee all real estate, identifying resources for location identification
  • Develop corporate cross functional responsibilities & ownership of all activities
  • Develop store staffing and hiring plans and training programs
  • Utilize technology to create a seamless experience for clients
  • Work with cross-functional team to create true channel convergence, leveraging data to personalize and optimize the shopping experience
  • Ensure Client Experience is optimized through hospitality-like service throughout the customer journey
  • Identify and vet new technologies to help transform the retail experience
  • Work with marketing team to develop new market activation & marketing strategies (repeatable & scalable)
  • Manage P&L, budgeting and forecasting

Requirements

  • Experienced (10+ years) retail leader in a modern, brand-focused company; preferably has operated in an early stage, entrepreneurial company
  • Innovative, team-oriented leader with proven success in operating in a constantly evolving environment
  • Has ability to flex between micro and macro level thinking and work with all levels within an organization; ability to deep dive into small and big issues across the whole scope of the business
  • Proven team building and leadership skills
  • Leader who can provide mentorship, set high standards, foster creativity and flexibility, motivate and bring innovation to the business
  • Strong sense of urgency and the ability to embrace and maximize a changing landscape; not afraid to make a mistake and take calculated risks
  • Results orientated, curious, attention to detail, and a strong collaborator
  • Experience working with commercial real estate brokers and landlords is a must.
  • Strong communication skills
