Responsibilities

  • Drive overall strategy, vision, and execution for product assortment (both third party and owned)
  • Drive P&L goals (revenue, orders, gross margin) through assortment management and optimization
  • Strategize and oversee all aspects of category expansion, including technology needs, marketing initiatives, and site and store merchandising plans
  • Sit at the executive level and drives strong cross-functional partnership and leadership
  • Create, drive and nurture vendor partnerships
  • Collaborate closely with Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics to develop category and inventory plans to drive results
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Tech, Site Experience, and Retail to develop and deliver best-in-class customer experience
  • Provide expert insight around visual merchandising, both in retail stores and within digital experience
  • Hire, lead and develop merchandising and product development teams

Requirements

  • Deep experience in beauty merchandising, with proven success in a multi-brand retail environment
  • Strong point of view or experience in product development
  • Highly analytical, understands implicitly how merchandising drives the P&L
  • Highly data-driven; uses data to inform decisions, anticipate opportunities, and drive strategy
  • Relentless attention to the customer and her experience
  • Willing to go low/high – strategic and scrappy, with early stage experience a plus
  • Creative, innovative merchant that can work at Follain’s scale today and scale up to lead the space
  • Excellent relationship-builder and negotiator
  • Independent, decisive executive with strong bias toward action and impeccable judgement
  • Strong cross-functional partner
  • Technology savvy, sees technology as an integral part of merchandising innovation
  • Excellent manager who provides vision, motivation, and an additive force to Follain culture
  • Executive leadership experience at a small- to mid-size retailer, or director/sr. director experience at a large company (but must be independently leading all initiatives)
  • Beauty experience required
  • Digital experience required
  • MBA preferred
