Vice President – Agile Office
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an entrepreneurial senior leader for our Agile Office which comprises of Technical Program Management (TPM) team, Agile coaching and SDLC cadence/process teams. This Office is the catalyst for managing execution and delivery of our agile transformation and health, enterprise cadence, critical programs across our product lines; and driving programs that deliver innovative, enterprise cloud solutions for our customers. They are the enablers and drivers that create delighted users, thriving teams and innovation everywhere.
Position Summary:
The VP Agile Office will oversee a small senior team of TPMs and agile coaches responsible for a portfolio of high-profile programs and our enterprise agile maturity. Along with Product Management and Engineering leaders, the TPMs will drive collective success against business goals for the product and athena overall. As we continue through our agile transformation, this leader will serve as a key agile champion and enabler of excellent agile delivery. As our TPM leader, they are also responsible for helping evolve and grow the TPM organization while modeling the way.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Organizational Leadership

  • Support and help mature the agile transformation to improve overall execution effectiveness
  • Develop effective and trusted relationships with cross functional leaders in order to identify, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • In collaboration with product and engineering leaders, determine which initiatives require TPM support and ensure that they have strong oversight.
  • Serve as a role model for encouraging knowledge-sharing across functional groups.
  • Develop and refine the overall SDLC enterprise cadence lifecycle which aligns with overall corporate milestones and metrics.

Team Leadership

  • Through strategic hiring and effective mentoring, build a high performing organization of well respected, effective, pragmatic technical program managers.
  • Manage agile coaches and TPMs, providing direction on priorities
  • Set and monitor performance goals & objectives, provide feedback through performance appraisals and day-to-day discussions
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities for direct and indirect reports
  • Coach and mentor your own team; also act as a mentor for managerial levels

Program & Process Leadership

  • Act as a strategic partner to the product and engineering leadership teams to ensure leaders are collaborating and to steer the strategic and tactical direction of product lines
  • Drive progress and achievement of program goals by aligning enterprise execution processes, ferreting out roadblocks and dependencies, and doing what it takes to unblock the team and creating a sustainable operating rhythm
  • Manage tradeoffs across the product line to ensure business objectives are met and internal obstacles are removed.
  • Identify issues with team effectiveness; surface them to drive resolution
  • Influence program performance through exercising sound judgement, challenging proposals, and building consensus
  • Establish process success metrics for Technical Program-wide KPIs that can be leveraged by peers


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • 12+ years of technical program management experience.
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience.
  • 5+ years Agile experience is required at an enterprise level;
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree welcome
  • Proven success managing successful, complex, business critical programs.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills: internally, client-facing, and with C-Level stakeholders
  • Demonstrates strong cross functional leadership to align process, projects, and people to meet business goals in cross-functional team settings.
  • Demonstrated past experience in defining and measuring team success via data-driven metrics & reporting

Behaviors and Abilities Required:

  • Develop credibility with a variety of levels within the organization; adapt messaging and style to suit the needs of the audience
  • Ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for a wide array of projects with increasing amounts of scope and/or visibility
