Sustainability Manager, Facilities

Responsibilities:

 

Determine Indigo’s key sustainability indicators

  • Create methods to measure the environmental impact of Indigo’s laboratories and facilities (not just carbon footprint)
  • Create a roadmap of short-, medium-, and long-term initiatives with timeline and deliverables
  • Determine Indigo’s corporate carbon footprint with the support of an external Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) provider


Switch all flatware to reusable dishware, but do so that it is not a bottleneck in the sink

  • Improve signage in offices to boost sustainability (i.e. mixed recycling or paper only)
  • Ensure all flatware and silverware are reusable at all Indigo sites


Develop and distribute regular impact reports

  • Generate monthly reports of water, utilities, waste, etc.
  • Complete and present a gap analysis on Indigo’s environmental sustainability
  • Perform an audit of the day-to-day materials (kitchen supplies, office supplies, etc.) used by employees across office with recommendations for how to reduce footprint
  • Gather and package all data for Indigo’s LCA analysis
  • Define and introduce compliance monitoring plan with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


Present a plan to implement water, waste, and energy efficient technologies in the labs and facilities

  • Present a plan to curb waste generation
  • Develop plan ensuring all deliverables are met for B-Corp successful eligibility


Interface with Carbon Team to ensure alignment on mission and goals

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Excellent track record for completing projects on-time and on-budget
  • High attentional to detail
  • Excellent speaker/presenter/communicator
  • Proactive personality avoiding reactive situations
  • Collaborative, team player who works well across different teams and with outside vendors


Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of work experience with emphasis on environmental sustainability and responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • Degree in an engineering or science field preferred
  • Degree in sustainable development preferred
  • Management experience, preferably in sustainability and project management
  • Experience with conducting Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
  • Experience in construction projects, architectural design process, building management systems, and waste management and minimization strategies
  • Well-versed in Green building certifications/ratings (e.g. LEED, WELL)

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
