Indigo is looking for a motivated Insurance expert to join our dynamic team and lead efforts to manage the risk associated with Indigo’s business models. The Sr. Manager, Insurance will report directly to the VP, Treasury & Risk Management, and play an integral role in building and maintaining strong relationships with business partners, brokers, and third-party vendors. This individual will also be tasked with assessing current coverage and costs, and researching and recommending improved insurance products globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise key stakeholders on insurance & risk management leading practices, including defining and revising the insurance profiles for Indigo’s various constituents (carriers, growers, buyers, etc.)
  • Identify any areas in Indigo insurance processes to be refined and work with appropriate parities to close gaps and gain efficiencies
  • Understand Indigo’s business models and underlying risk management needs
  • Own all insurance placements and renewals which will include, Marine Cargo, Inland Marine, Property & Casualty, Freight Liability, Commercial General Liability, Trade Credit, and Management Liability, and Cyber
  • Provide timely and accurate insurance application information to insurance brokers. Review marketing results and benchmarking presented by brokers; make a recommendation for the most appropriate limits and favorable coverage and premium renewal terms
  • Manage the effective negotiation of the terms and conditions of risk acceptance and pricing
  • Demonstrate strong judgment, deep understanding of products
  • Ensure insurance advice is provided and completed to required timelines & quality standards
  • Establish strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, becoming a regional ambassador for risk management
  • Review policies and coverage for accuracy and rating calculations
  • Process endorsements, placement requests and invoicing
  • Own certificate of insurance collection process for designated Indigo business units, including third-party servicer relationship; own review of certificates, where required
  • Work with designated business units to find creative ways to increase insurance compliance
  • Own request for Indigo’s insurance certificates, including accuracy of certificates
  • Own schedule of insurance and open items list; own resolution of open items with broker
  • Check policy coverage and endorsements on all new business and renewals
  • Build strong business relationships with global underwriters and brokers
  • Understand business risk and the connection between business unit operations and insurance
  • Serve as an insurance expert for contracts including consulting, drafting and negotiation of language.
  • Ensure global compliance with all legal and insurance regulations
  • Notify relevant parties (insurance brokers) of potential insurance claims in a timely manner. Track and monitor claims and communicate as necessary between relevant parties to conclusion
  • Estimate and monitor the corporate insurance program expenses and report to management as requested for budgeting and other purposes
  • Assist with other corporate insurance risk management initiatives and/or projects as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant global insurance/risk management experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience as a customer service representative for an insurance broker coupled with corporate insurance experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Extensive knowledge of all types of insurance

  • ARM, CPCU, or other equivalent insurance certification preferred
  • Knowledge of brokerage space preferred

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
