Chewy is seeking a Sr. Cloud Services Analyst in our Boston, MA office. As a Sr. Cloud Services Analyst, you’ll work to ensure Chewy’s cloud activities are undertaken in a fiscally responsible manner, partnering with Cloud Engineers and Architects to define and implement the tools necessary to measure and control such activities. Working across the public and private cloud platforms, you’ll provide senior management the information necessary to appropriately govern associated platforms, projects, and processes and to ensure costs are allocated appropriately and will work with application development teams to ensure that this strategy is implemented appropriately.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide financial oversight and management of cloud operating budgets and/or chargeback to internal customers
  • Develop and administer reporting and tracking system of all TCO/economic related activities
  • Present business reviews to senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks on TCO topics
  • Develop and/or improve processes for performing and incorporating business value analysis into demand management and cloud customer intake processes
  • Develop Show Back, Charge Back, Cost Allocation, and budget forecast models
  • Develop and deliver ongoing analysis of cost and budget trends, identifying drivers of both and analyzing deviations from forecasted costs and spend
  • Define per-business and per-system requirements for alerting to actual and forecasted cost and spend deviations, as well as the process for responding to such alerts
  • Partner with cloud architects and engineers to identify, define, and implement:
    • Resource tagging guidelines to ensure appropriate categorization of costs
    • Guardrails to optimize cost performance
    • Cost optimization opportunities at the project and platform level
    • Reserved Instance, On-demand, and Spot instance strategy and guidelines
  • Partner with the Cloud Product Owner to maintain and improve a financial reporting solution in support of the above
  • Partner with product owners to manage the cost of their products during both development and post-deployment timeframes

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business financial management
  • Highly motivated to research and self-study to keep technical and financial skills relevant in a highly complex environment
  • Understanding of cloud computing technologies and ability to anticipate workload transition challenges
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and coach technical colleagues and to seek opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of cross functional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Position may require some travel

Bonus:

  • Experience in financial modeling and analysis of large-scale IT infrastructure, application and/or service investments
  • Public cloud experience, particularly AWS
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
