Position Summary: The Senior Manager of Leadership Development will create, manage and facilitate a series of programs aimed at preparing and improving the capabilities of existing and future leaders of the organization. This person will proactively contribute to athena’s overall purpose by identifying opportunities, and offering creative solutions to drive business results. The combination of instructional design, facilitation technique, and consultative expertise will be the key to success in this role.

Essential Functions:

  • Instructional design: create relevant, interactive, compelling training programs
  • Facilitation: facilitate experiential learning programs
  • Team Consultation: assess and consult to intact teams to drive productivity
  • Strategy contribution: proactive contribute to learning strategy and HR integration


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
~50%

  • Create, drive and facilitate all management and leadership development programming across the athenaUniversity portfolio
    • Identify and secure best-in-class partnerships where optimal
    • Design and deliver experiences (formal, informal, virtual and in-person) for leadership development
  • Conduct and act upon gap analyses of capabilities across the organization
  • Partner with HR, business unit leaders and other stakeholders to craft and execute relevant nomination and selection processes
  • Lead the assessment of learning efficacy as well as individual and organizational impact of all programming


~30%

  • Provide consulting services to intact teams with the goal of increasing organizational / team effectiveness
  • Administer team assessments to drive awareness and facilitate higher levels of team productivity
  • Provide one-on-one coaching services to a select group of leaders on an as-needed (strategically planned) basis


~20%

  • Contribute to the athenaUniversity strategy, providing guidance and direction regarding priorities, goals and execution for leadership development
  • Support projects associated with leadership initiatives (e.g. SLT retreat planning)
  • Proactively contribute to overall Human Resources strategy, connecting people and processes across the employee lifecycle
  • Contribute to internal marketing tactics to drive awareness and participation in athenaUniversity courses and offerings


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree in organizational psychology, instructional design, or something related preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Successful experience with team interventions; certification in team assessments preferred
  • Proficiency with instructional design methodologies and adult learning theories / needs
  • Familiar with learning technology including analytics, course development tools and applications as well as learning platforms and content management systems
  • Prior leadership experience and history of developing and executing leadership programs across a diverse audience
  • Experience with diversity and inclusion highly desirable

  • Strong consulting background and experience in the field of training and leadership development
  • Knowledge and experience with all aspects of curriculum design, development and delivery
  • Ability to adapt prior experiences to the athena culture in order to resonate with all levels of leadership
  • Ability to develop and execute a blended learning approach, engaging employees across multiple locations
  • Ability to communicate to and influence a wide range of stakeholders and audiences
  • Familiarity with learning technologies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products
