People Operations Lead (HR Director)

Our team is currently working primarily remotely, with a number of our vaccinated employees opting to work regularly from our physical office in Cambridge, MA. Our team values the health and safety of our people above all else, so we’re continuing to work distributedly, but our PeopleOps team plans to return to the office on a semi-regular basis upon a broader transition back to the office.
About the position
We’re looking for an experienced, people-driven, and business-minded leader to own and advance our organization’s people and culture initiatives as we continue to scale a company where diverse employees and leaders can grow, belong, and thrive. This role will drive outcomes across a wide variety of key HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, DEI, employee development, employee listening, and manager support/coaching. They’ll lead a small team of people professionals and will report directly to our Head of People Operations.
Here’s an example of what someone can expect to accomplish in their first year in the position:
- Lead the execution of existing key talent initiatives in employee experience/engagement, DEI, development, talent acquisition, and culture.
- Shape the employee experience by designing and executing a roadmap for organization-wide programs and initiatives.
- Develop, empower, and mentor a small team of direct reports as they grow in experience and impact as people professionals.
- Own a variety of quantitative and qualitative employee listening and data-collection; synthesize data to identify opportunities, plans, and solutions that foster culture and employee engagement.
- Serve as a champion for our company values; oversee and scale initiatives that foster inclusion and positive community impact.
- Drive the evolution of our high performance and professional growth programs, including goal-setting, reviews, and coaching.
- Become a trusted confidante and mentor to employees across the organization; facilitate a comfortable environment in which concerns can be raised when they are small and resolved before they grow.
- Become a trusted thought partner and advisor to people managers across the organization; offer coaching to leaders on matters of employee engagement, performance, and retention.
Ideal candidates for this position will have:
- Experience leading, executing, and scaling initiatives at a people-centric organization
- Experience coaching and/or mentoring other people professionals
- Relationship-building, listening, and influencing abilities; strong interpersonal instincts
- Prioritization and project management skills; the ability to lead multiple, sophisticated company-wide projects simultaneously
- Exceptional writing skills; the ability to write company communications, philosophy, and policies.
- Analytical skills; the ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into insights, actionable recommendations, and plans
- Pragmatic problem-solving and decision making abilities
- A solid foundation in HR best practices
- Business acumen
