IT Systems Engineer

The ideal candidate has experience in a cloud-first technology environment built on SaaS and PaaS solutions, rather than a large in-house technology footprint. They should have exemplary problem-solving and critical thinking skills; experience gathering requirements for, planning, and executing projects; a desire to and track record of working collaboratively, but the ability to work independently; an inexorable drive to improve business processes through critical assessment and automation; outstanding communication skills; and, most of all, a human-centered approach to solutions development.
You will:
- Plan and execute strategic IT projects in collaboration with the IT Operations team and business stakeholders.
- Manage the lifecycle of user accounts across a variety of services using our cloud identity provider
- Develop automation for IT and stakeholder business process using low-code automation technology and simple Python scripts
- Collaborate with other members of the IT Operations team and our Legal team to evaluate security and operational risk for new and existing technology vendors
- Assist in enterprise-grade technology selection
- Assess the security of systems and services and respond to security incidents in collaboration with the IT Operations team
- Administer edX macOS, Windows, and Linux endpoints
- Administer technology that supports and enforces technical controls for our BYOD policy
- Administer a variety of productivity and SaaS applications, including GSuite, OneLogin, Zoom, JIRA, and Confluence
- Administer and develop capabilities for a cloud identity provider
- Recommend and implement approved technical controls to implement IT policy
- Work closely with both technical and non-technical staff to resolve and document a variety of support requests
- Provide Tier 2 support in collaboration with our IT Support team and escalate to Tier 3 support with Engineering teams and vendors
- Provide backup Tier 1 support as needed
- Document issue resolutions
- Build mappings and integrations between edX technology systems
- Other duties related to the day-to-day operations of an Information Technology Operations team
You have:
- 3+ Years experience and demonstrated ability in planning and executing projects
- 3+ Years experience in working with and administering SaaS products and cloud technologies like JIRA, Confluence, GSuite, Zendesk, Salesforce, and leading Cloud Identity Providers
- 3+ years experience in supporting macOS systems
- 2+ Years providing Tier 2 IT Support
- 2+ years experience in administering macOS systems
- 2+ years in supporting Windows systems
- A demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team
- Experience with *nix systems
- Experience with modern scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby) for automating administration and operational tasks and processes
- Ability to learn new technologies and services quickly and then support them on-the-fly
- Exemplary critical-thinking and problem solving skills
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Strong communication and writing skills
