CIC is looking for a personable and organized individual to help support the events team. This is an exciting, full-time opportunity for someone with at least 1-2 years of experience in a related role.

ABOUT CIC EVENTS


Events play a critical role in our community by providing entrepreneurs, innovators, and others with an outlet to collaborate and network with like-minded individuals. A variety of events occur at CIC, such as industry-specific presentations, programming meetups, pitching exercises, startup workshops, and panel discussions. The types of events we support benefit entrepreneurs by giving them the tools, skills, and resources needed to flourish. Every month, CIC hosts about 70-100 events spread across our three Boston-area locations in Kendall Square and Boston. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE


Overall, we like to employ service-minded people who are reliable, clever, and able to work independently. More specifically, we are looking for someone who possesses the following characteristics:

· Excellent communicator and listener, both written and verbal, with anyone including colleagues, clients, vendors, and event hosts

· Independent, trustworthy, and willing to learn

· Calm in a very busy environment and confident when dealing with uncertainty and last minute changes


GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES


This person will primarily work with the other members of the Events Team, but will also frequently engage with other internal CIC teams across Cambridge and Boston. This role includes both collaborative projects with the team, as well as independent work leading event coordination and niche projects. The position has the potential to be based in CIC Boston or CIC Cambridge based on team need at the time of hire.


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

· Screening and reviewing incoming event inquiries from CIC members, collaborators in the innovation community, and other companies and organizations. Typically event inquiries are received through a form on our website, in which questions range from basic event details to general content of the event. Form is available here.

· Coordinating event details through the entire process, while communicating the philosophy of CIC’s events program and explaining the parameters for hosting events at CIC. Event coordination includes providing tours and quotes for event spaces, communicating with building management and security, updating the Certificate of Insurance for vendors, issuing quotes, invoices, and tracking payments, ensuring all event details are clear to the Events Team and in line with CIC policies, marketing events to the startup community, arranging event staffing, and managing event follow-up and evaluation.

· Coordinating with CIC staff teams to schedule and participate in event staffing, setup, and breakdown. Act as a resource to event hosts during the event to generally ensure that the event runs smoothly.

· Developing and maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with new and existing partners in the innovation ecosystem; working with them to create events of interest for the CIC community.

· Collaborating with the Head of Events and teammates on projects to improve event services.

· Participating in training new Event Team members.

REQUIREMENTS

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree

· One to two years of professional experience with coordinating events (experience with professional event coordination, community organizing, the innovation ecosystem, or community building strongly preferred)

· Occasionally available on nights and weekends

· A natural interest for helping/supporting others

· An interest in a long-term role, we are a growing company, and we like to hire people who can grow with us over the years


Starting compensation is $47,129 per year plus 100% of the cost of a premium healthcare and dental package, long and short-term disability, life insurance, and two weeks vacation from the start (more with seniority). Annual reviews with raises every year for those on track with strong performance.
