Director of Corporate Development

We are hiring a corporate development all-star to help us build the world’s leading Automated AI Platform. You’d help us drive acquisitions, investments and business strategy for DataRobot. You will be responsible for refining DataRobot corporate strategy, and drive acquisitions and other strategic transactions. The individual will play a key part in helping DataRobot make considered, data-driven and strategic decisions that build a differentiated product, improve our business model, and ultimately accelerate our mission of automating machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Executive, Product, Engineering and other teams to develop an M&A strategy that will accelerate the company’s product roadmap, growth trajectory, and financial targets
  • Develop market intelligence and insight on key industry trends, including market size, environment scans, opportunity size, business model, technology, ecosystem, customers
  • Assess new product, market and revenue opportunities with strategic and analytical rigor and communicate recommendations and build consensus with the Executive team
  • Drive all aspects of the deal process including building a thesis, source and screen opportunities, assemble value drivers, analyze and build valuation models, perform diligence, and negotiate a transaction
  • Support integration plan to ensure that acquisitions are assimilated and value drivers are realized
  • Develop key relationships with external parties (investors, bankers, companies and other industry stakeholders) to bring knowledge of market trends and acquisition targets

  • Executive storytelling -- building a crisp and clear analysis of businesses, industry landscapes, market trends, competitor moves and effectively frame strategic options and recommendations.
  • Team player – working with sales, product, engineering, legal, HR and finance teams on all the critical areas that are required to get a deal done
  • Ask the next question and be able to look around the corners
  • Project management – making sure smooth execution across all parts of the deal process
  • Background in managing relationships with leadership and key stakeholders across global organizations
  • Persistent attention to detail and delivering results
  • Aptitude to manage competing priorities effectively and efficiently, while dealing with a high degree of urgency and ambiguity
  • Enthusiastic, self-confident, humble, and intellectually curious to challenge, debate, and clarify assumptions

 

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of investment banking, venture capital or in-house corporate development
  • Solid working knowledge of the AI and Data ecosystem, emerging trends, key players and market dynamics
  • Excellent organizational, communication and peer management skills
  • Experience with legal contracts, managing legal counsel, data rooms, evaluating business opportunities and negotiating business terms
  • Experience with financial modeling, revenue forecasting, analyzing business plans and preparing investment memos
  • Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn, and passion for building a best-of-class product
