A bit about us:

We’re on a mission to change healthcare — how it’s paid for, delivered, experienced. We want to put people center stage, not process or profit. We are guided by a deep belief that every person on Medicare should be treated like we would treat a member of our own family: with loving care and a profound commitment to their health and well-being.

That’s why we’re gathering a whole bunch of smart, big-hearted people to create a new kind of healthcare company — one that combines compassion, health insurance, clinical care, and technology seamlessly.

We want to throw the long ball with people we love for a cause we believe in. Life is short. Join us.

A bit more about this role:

This position represents an amazing opportunity for an ambitious early-mid career pharmacist with an entrepreneurial streak. You’ll be working closely with Devoted’s clinical leadership team in Waltham, MA to help implement and oversee relevant aspects of our Part D and care management programs. At the same time, you’ll work with Devoted Medical Group (DMG) to help deliver home-based primary care to the frailest, sickest, and most complex members of our health plan. In your Part D role, you’ll work with Devoted’s clinical team and our pharmacy benefits manager to help implement and manage our Part D operational and quality assurance programs, including clinical initiatives and operational programs. In parallel, you’ll work with Devoted’s clinical team and clinical guides--a cadre of expert social workers and registered nurses--to help implement medication reconciliation program for our high risk care management program. You’ll also play a central role in designing and implementing medication reconciliation and polypharmacy reduction programs for DMG. We are committed to helping and supporting you to learn and gain the experience that you need to achieve your career development goals, which might include growing your career into more senior levels of leadership at a payer or provider organization.

Attributes to success:

  • You are a great clinical pharmacist; you take pride in knowing your medications, their side effects, mechanisms of action, and indications
  • You are deeply empathic, humanistic, and want to go the last mile for your patients
  • You have a passion for making healthcare better, solving complex problems and supporting the delivery of healthcare that we would want for our Medicare family members
  • You are comfortable monitoring pharmaceutical utilization trends, designing and implementing programs to address these trends, and communicating program outcomes to corporate leadership and physicians
  • You excel at educating physicians about pharmaceutical utilization management initiatives, and opportunities to prescribe pharmaceuticals more safely and cost-effectively
  • You're an entrepreneurial self-starter
  • Agility and collaboration are critical to your success - we are a new organization and have a start-up mentality
  • You learn from every experience and are not afraid to fail - that's how you're wired
  • You understand the dangers of polypharmacy, particularly for older people; you get just as excited about stopping unnecessary medications as you do about starting necessary ones
  • You feel comfortable overseeing vendors performing Medicare Part D related functions. You know what you do and don’t know, and understand that asking for help when you need it is a sign of strength
  • You are able to learn new technologies quickly, and use new tools in ways that help make the work more productive
  • Thinking about the big picture is key for you, but YOU sweat the details
  • You enjoy a fast-paced, high-energy, growing organization

Desired skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree with Master’s degree; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
  • Three or more years of clinical experience (ideally supporting efforts to care for medically and socially complex populations)
  • Significant experience in the Medicare arena. A strong desire to continue to work closely with geriatric patient populations
  • Experience with pharmacy-related quality assurance (QA) work is strongly preferred but not required
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google suite of products
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary care team
  • We have extra interest in people who bring cultural competency across a range of cultures, and those who speak Spanish and Haitian-Creole.

If you love running towards complex challenges and transforming them into solutions, if you want to make a potentially huge impact on many lives, and if you are looking for a disruptive startup with an inspiring and talented team, Devoted Health may be the place for you!
