HubSpot’s Security and Risk team is responsible for building, monitoring and maintaining an internal control environment which enables us to manage our technology risk and comply with our regulatory obligations while supporting the rapid growth and development objectives of the business. We are looking for a seasoned technical writer who possess imagination, creativity and vision which can be employed to build out our documentation and help us define a scalable ongoing documentation management process tailored to the unique needs of our organization. In this role, you will collaborate with system owners, product managers, engineers, users and business leaders to continuously improve our collateral.

We are looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our company and the team. You will join a small team which is responsible for managing the compliance efforts. Our team is obsessively focused on automating manual audit tasks by exploiting the unique integration capabilities of our primarily SaaS system environment to gather, manage and report on data on ongoing real time basis. We are guided by the mission to develop innovative solutions that reduce the compliance burden on our employees so that they spend less time on administrative tasks and more time doing their best work.

In this role you’ll get to:

  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Analyze and understand the audience of written content. This responsibility requires an understanding of others and what their motivation and needs are.
  • Ability to turn information/knowledge into content. This responsibility requires a highly intelligent individual who can write clearly and succinctly to convey a message.
  • Working with internal teams on product and documentation requirements. Manage relationships with various information sources throughout the company. This responsibility requires someone who can develop strong peer relationships with folks in other teams.
  • Writing easy-to-understand technical and process documentation as well as developer guides
  • Document new systems, businesses or acquired entities, including data mapping and flowcharting.
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the corporate infrastructure and the documentation requirements
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
  • Create and maintain the information architecture
  • Manage and implement a thorough proofreading and editing process that involves gathering feedback from peers and other resources. This responsibility requires a highly organized individual who can gather feedback and improve their content.
  • Document the writing process and written style guide for owned assets. This responsibility requires someone who is good at figuring out the processes necessary to get things done and organize them in a cohesive way.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Excellent written skills in English
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite/Microsoft Office
  • Basic familiarity with software development practices
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
