HubSpot is looking for someone who has had the experience of scaling organic traffic growth with a remarkable content strategy.

Millions of people discover, learn, and execute on content produced by HubSpot, and we’re looking for a Sr. SEO Content Strategist (Individual Contributor) who has the ambition to exponentially grow our organic traffic through keyword research and execution. Our ideal candidate has worked with teams across multiple disciplines and delivered remarkable results. Having autonomy to mine through data for insights, define a strategy, and being goaled against your own projections should be something that excites you.

The Sr SEO Strategist is knowledgeable about most aspects of SEO, but specializes on finding keyword opportunities and communicating the content requirements to win in search. This person will be the go-to SEO consultant for all HubSpot stakeholders that create content with a particular focus on HubSpot’s blogs.

The right candidate has an eye for solving for the future of search, can spot a content approach given a SERP we don’t rank for that can win, and has exceptional analytical skills in providing direction to content creators on what else is required to own a topical space. Being able to differentiate different search features (and how they work) is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run extensive keyword research
  • Align content creators across all of HubSpot on topical coverage to prevent further keyword cannibalization.
  • Identify emerging and existing content gaps, align with content creators on a strategy and digital assets needed, and execute a digital strategy that will, at a minimum, double organic traffic to HubSpot properties.
  • Provide prioritization and process for the historical optimization projects within HubSpot.
  • Generate reports on the net improvements in organic traffic via content strategy and historic optimization; proactively suggest pivots in strategy as necessary
  • Help HubSpot content creators stay abreast of new and evolving Google search features (People Also Asked, Google News, Knowledge Carousels, and paid search features) and own the reporting the impact on how winning these features can grow organic traffic.
  • Run content optimization experiments to create HubSpot-specific best practices and creating standardized solutions.
  • Perform regular content audits.
  • Be a subject matter expert on SEO that the rest of the HubSpot organization can lean into for consultation, not limited to HubSpot Academy, HubSpot Product, HubSpot Research and HubSpot Support.
  • Own HubSpot Blogs’ organic growth goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years track record of exponentially scaling organic traffic for a startup or doubling mature and complex content properties such as news websites, magazines, and blogs with millions of visitors per month.
  • Superb communication (verbal and written) skills – knows how to work with other teams, set shared goals, communicate the overall strategy, and execute.
  • A data-driven mindset is a must. We are not looking for someone who pulls numbers that go up. We are looking for someone which segments growth by causes and can effectively communicate an action plan to win in search.
  • Familiarity devising and/or executing on a pillar/cluster content strategy strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of like software and SaaS from the following list: HubSpot, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMRush, ScreamingFrog, Google Tag Manager and Botify.
  • Experience reversing manual penalties caused by violating Google Webmaster guidelines are a plus.
  • Experience with international markets (non-US) are a plus.
  • Knowledgeable on coding languages and protocols that impact SEO for better or worse (e.g. html, css, javascript)
